Cornwall ON – Here is your police blotter for Wednesday December 29, 2010.
WARRANT & FRAUD
Cornwall, ON- Natalie Lavigne, 20 of Cornwall was arrested on the 23rd of December, 2010 under the strength of an outstanding warrant. It was alleged that she had failed to attend court on two separate occasions. An unrelated investigation also revealed that between January 2010 and February 2010, she allegedly obtained four cheques that did not belong to her and deposited them. She was charged for four counts of Fraud Under $5000.00. She was held in custody until the following day.
WARRANT & THEFT
Cornwall, ON- Lesley Chisholm, 52 of Cornwall was arrested on the 22nd of December, 2010. It is alleged that on the 22nd of December, 2010, she attended a Ninth Street business and committed theft. Further investigation revealed that she was also wanted under the strength of two outstanding warrants for failing to appear to court on the 25th and 29th of November 2010. She was arrested and charged with Theft Under $5000.00 and released to appear in court on the 18th of January, 2011.
DOMESTIC
Cornwall, ON- A 43 year-old Cornwall man was arrested on the 22nd of December, 2010. He was bound by a Probation Order with the relevant condition to Keep the Peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that on the 16th of December, 2010, he engaged in a physical altercation with his 26 year-old girlfriend when he assaulted her, threatened her with a chair, caused mischief and uttered death threats. He was later located and charged withThreat, Mischief Under, Assault with a Weapon and Breach of Probation. He was held in custody until court the following day. His name is not being released as it may identify the victim in this incident.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT & BREACH OF PROBATION
Cornwall, ON- A 35 year-old Cornwall female was arrested on the 22nd of December, 2010. She was bound by a Probation Order with the relevant condition to Keep the peace and be of good behavior. It is alleged that on the 22nd of December, 2010, she engaged in an altercation with her 49 year-old boyfriend when she assaulted him. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. She was charged with Assault and Breach of Probation. She was released to appear in court on the 11th of January, 2011. Her name is not being released as it may identify the victim in this incident.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON- A 48 year-old Cornwall man was arrested on the 24th of December 2010. It is alleged that on the 24th of December, 2010, he engaged in an altercation with his 40 year-old wife when he assaulted her. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with Assault and was held in custody until court the following day. His name is not being released as it may identify the victim in this incident.
BREACHES
Cornwall, ON- Kelly Allen, 47 of Ottawa was arrested on the 26th of December, 2010. He was bound by a Recognizance of Bail with the relevant conditions to not attend at Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry except for court purposes. He was also bound by a Second Recognizance to Keep the Peace and to not attend Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry. It is alleged that on the 26th of December, 2010, police located the male at a Vincent Massey Drive address and he was charged with 2 counts of breach of Recognizance. He was held in custody until court the following day.
IMPAIRED DRIVING & FLIGHT FROM POLICE
Cornwall, ON- Tina Benedict, 46 of Akwesasne was arrested on the 28th of December 2010. It is alleged that on the 27th of December, 2010, shortly before mid-night, police attended the area of McConnell Avenue and Water Street after receiving information of a possible impaired driver. The Cornwall Community Police Service member located the motor vehicle driving erratically and driving on the sidewalk. The driver proceeded through a red traffic light and stopped in the middle of the intersection. Police conducted a traffic stop however the driver placed the vehicle in motion when the Police Officer requested that the vehicle be turned off. The vehicle came to a stop when it collided with a stopped vehicle at the intersection of Lennox Street and Edward Street. She was bound by a Probation Order and a Recognizance with the relevant condition not to consume alcohol. The driver was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle, fail to Provide Breath Sample, Dangerous Operation, Flight from Police, 2 counts of Driver Disqualified, 3 counts of breach of recognizance and 2 counts of breach of Probation. She was held in custody until court the following day.

CHARGES LAID
(South Stormont) – On 29Dec10, at approximately 3:00am, SD&G OPP officers had occasion to conduct a traffic stop on County Road 2, South Stormont Township.
The stop revealed that the 24yr old male driver (James ELLIOT of Ingleside, On) was operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was also found to be in possession of (small amount) of suspected marihuana.
He was arrested and faces charges of:
- Impaired Operation / Motor vehicle
- Exceed 80mgs / Motor vehicle
- Possession
He is scheduled to appear 06Jan11 in Cornwall court.
FAMILY DISPUTE
(South Dundas) – On 27Dec10, at approximately 10:00pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a family dispute on Broken Second Road, South Dundas Township.
The investigation revealed that a 47yr old male was involved in a verbal altercation with another family member when he displayed a loaded firearm.
He was arrested and faces charges of:
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Ammunition
He was held in custody pending an appearance in Cornwall court.
BREAK AND ENTER
(North Stormont) – On 27Dec10, at approximately 1:00pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a break and enter on County Road 43, North Stormont Township.
The investigation revealed that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) smashed a window to the Community Hall and removed a laptop computer and an overhead projector.
The investigation is ongoing.

This is where the vehicle should be permanently taken away, and also with 2 counts of driver disqualified, no more licence! When will some drunk drivers learn?
I think the question should be “When will WE ever learn?” Besides the usual penalties, why don’t we confiscate drunk drivers vehicles permanently for the first offence? Second offence means 2 years jailtime and third offence means a minimum of 10 years in jail! You can extrapolate from thereon.
