Cornwall ON – Two local consumers just got a wonderful if belated Christmas present. Inez Wheeler and Brenda Kennedy have each won a $1,000 local shopping spree with Santa Claus making the grand prize draw at the Chamber of Commerce offices on Thursday January 6, 2011. Each one was understandably excited and pleased when they received the special telephone call from Chamber officials.
Co-sponsored by the Cornwall & Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Cornwall, the highly successful Shop at Home for the Holidays program is into its second year. The 2010 edition saw 40 participating merchants accept close to 20,000 shop-local coupons from thousands of area consumers who chose to spend their dollars ‘at-home’.
“The Shop at Home program was our member merchants way of saying Thanks to the many consumers who chose to spend their dollars locally,” reports Chamber Executive Manager, Lezlie Strasser. “While they may not realize it, by shopping locally they help to employ people and they also contribute to our local economy. It is a win-win for everyone in the community.”
Both the Chamber and its co-sponsor, the City of Cornwall would like to extend thanks to all of the participating merchants for helping to make Shop at Home an unprecedented success. It has been a fitting end to a year during which the Cornwall & Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated 120 years of continuous service to the community.
