Cornwall ON – Here is your police blotter for Tuesday February 8, 2011.
DOMESTIC & UNLAWFULLY IN A DWELLING
Cornwall, ON- A 30 year-old Cornwall man was arrested and charged on the 7th of February, 2011. He was bound by an Officer in Charge Undertaking with the pertinent condition of Keep the Peace and be of good behavior. He was also bound by a Justice of the peace Recognizance with a condition not to contact a certain person. It is alleged that on the 7th of February, 2011, the male entered his 28 year-old ex-girlfriends residence, refused to leave and proceeded to assault another male in the residence. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. The male was charged with Unlawfully in a dwelling, Breach of Undertaking, Breach of Recognizance and assault. He was held in custody until court the following day. His name was not release as it would identify the victim in this incident.
BREACH
Cornwall, ON- A 16 year-old Cornwall youth was arrested and charged on the 7th of February 2011. He was bound by an Officer in Charge Undertaking with the relevant conditions to attend school without truancy and to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that on the 21st of January 2011, the youth was found not at school. He was charged with two counts of breach of an Officer in Charge Undertaking. He was held in custody until court the following day. His name is withheld due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
DOMESTIC BREACH
Cornwall, ON- A 46 year-old Cornwall man was arrested and charged on the 7th of February, 2011. He was bound by a Probation Order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behavior and not to contact a certain female. He was also bound by a non communication order with the condition not to contact the same female. It is alleged that between the 26th of December, 2010 and the 27th of January, 2011, he contacted the female several times. He was charged with two counts of breach of Probation and fail to comply with non communication order. He was held in custody until court the same day. His name was not release as it would identify the victim in this incident.
WARRANT
Cornwall, ON- Marie Vezina, 29 of Cornwall was arrested under the strength of a warrant on the 7th of the February, 2011. She was bound by an Officer in Charge Undertaking with the pertinent conditions to notify the Cornwall Community Police Service of any change of address and to keep the peace and be of good behavior. It is alleged that on the 3rd of December, 2010, she moved failing to notify the police. She was charged with two counts of fail to comply with Undertaking. He was held in custody for court the following day.
WARRANT/ROBBERY
Cornwall, ON– A third person has been arrested in conjunction with a robbery which occurred on December 30th, 2010 at a Cornwallis Avenue residence. It is alleged that the male and female entered the residence, assaulted the owner and demanded the home owner’s debit card and PIN (personal identification number). The victim did not require medical attention for his injury. Police were contacted and an investigation resulted in the following:
John Sawatis, 31 of Ottawa was arrested on the 7th of February, 2011 under the strength of a warrant for 1 count of Robbery, two counts of Justice of the peace Recognizance for being in the city of Cornwall and not to be found in company of anyone known to you to use drugs, and breach of Probation for failing to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. He was held in custody until court the following day.
(South Glengarry) – On 07Feb11, at approximately 11:30am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a male breaching his release conditions on Tyotown Road, South Glengarry Township.
The investigation revealed that a 17yr old male was not attending school as set out in his release conditions.
The male was arrested and faces charges of:
- Fail to Comply with Undertaking or Recognizance x2
- Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
He was held in custody pending an appearance in Cornwall court.
CHARGE LAID
(South Dundas) – As a result of a sexual assault investigation conducted by the SD&G OPP Crime Unit, a male from Baker Lake, Nunavut was arrested on Saturday, 05Feb11.
The 23yr old male faces a charge of:
- Sexual Assault
The above charge is in relation to an assault on a female.
He was held in custody pending an appearance in Cornwall court.
DOMESTIC INCIDENT
(North Dundas) – On 04Feb11, at approximately 11:30pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic incident on St. Lawrence St. Winchester, On.
The investigation revealed that a female and her 19yr old boyfriend were involved in a verbal altercation that resulted in the male damaging property in the residence. The male was also found to beaching his earlier release conditions.
He was arrested and faces charges of:
- Mischief – Domestic
- Fail to Comply – Undertaking Before Officer in Charge
He is scheduled to appear 01Mar11 in Cornwall court.
