BREAKING NEWS – TD Canada Trust Branch in Cornwall Square ROBBED – WE WILL BE UPDATING SHORTLY – March 2, 2011

Calls to the branch go straight to a voicemail advising that the branch is temporarily closed.

UPDATE – The Bank was held up by one assailant at 1:25 PM EST.  No injuries have been reported.  The Mall is open, but the bank will be closed temporarily as police conduct their investigation.

UPDATE FROM THE CORNWALL POLICE

The Cornwall Community Police Service is investigating a bank robbery that occurred on March 2nd, 2011 at approximately 01:25 p.m. at the TD Canada Trust branch located at the Cornwall Square.  The bank was robbed by a lone male.  The suspect is described as a white male, mid 30’s, approximately 6’ tall.  He has a tattoo on the right side of his neck.  He was wearing dark clothing, bomber style jacket with a black ballcap.  It is reported that the male entered the bank displayed a note and believed to be travelling on foot.

 

The Cornwall Community Police Service is requesting the assistance of the public.  If you have any information regarding this robbery, please contact the Service by dialing (613) 933-5000, ext. 2446.

We’re glad that no one was hurt in the incident and we’re working with Cornwall Police to help with the investigation.

  1. Wow these perps have balls these days… To go to a busy location like the Square and try to pull this off is pretty unreal. Usually the cops are lined up just outside those doors in the yellow section marked police only. Hopefully no one got hurt.

  5. Cornwall ON – Robert Joseph Larry Hart, 28, of No Fixed Address was arrested on the 02nd of March, 2011 following a robbery investigation. It is alleged that he entered the TD Canada Trust, Cornwall Square location and presented a note requesting money and indicated that he was in the possession of a firearm.
    The male was given an undisclosed amount of money and left the area on foot. Police were contacted and an investigation commenced. The male turned himself into police and was arrested for 1 count of Robbery with a firearm and 1 count of Breach of Probation for failing to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour. He will appear in court on this date.
