Cornwall ON – The Cornwall Police have been busy today clearing Hockey incidents and finding a body!
SUDDEN DEATH INVESTIGATION
Cornwall, Ont. – On March 15th, 2011 at approximately 8 p.m. the Cornwall Community Police Service discovered a deceased female at a Second Street West residence. The Cornwall Community Police Service has confirmed her identity however the information is not being released pending notification of next of kin. The cause of death is still undetermined. No foul play is suspected and the matter is still under investigation.
HOCKEY INVESTIGATION CONCLUDED
Cornwall, Ont. – The Cornwall Community Police Service has concluded its’ investigation into the alleged assault on a Kanata hockey player during Sunday night’s game. Police have interviewed relevant witnesses in this case and also have conducted an extensive review of original digital video as well as consulted with the Crown Attorney’s office. It was determined that the collision and resulting injury did not fall within criminal standards as per the provisions under the Criminal Code of Canada.
FRAUD and BREACH OF UNDERTAKING
Cornwall, Ont. – Gregory Luc Malenfant, 24, of Cornwall was arrested on the 15th of March, 2011 for breaching his conditions. He was bound by an Undertaking Order with a condition to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour. It is alleged that since the 11th of February, the male stole 8 cheques from a relative and made them payable to him. Police were contacted and an investigation commenced. The male turned himself into police and was arrested for 8 counts of Fraud Under $5,000.00 and 1 count of Breach of Undertaking. He was held in custody until court the following day.
ASSAULT
Cornwall, Ont. – A 43 year-old Cornwall male was arrested on the 15th of March, 2011 following an assault investigation. It is alleged that earlier that day, he assaulted his ex-common law spouse by intentionally bumping into her. The female did not require medical attention at the time of the incident. Police were contacted and an investigation resulted in the male facing 1 count of Assault. He was released to appear in court on the 12th of April, 2011. His name is withheld as it may identify the victim in this incident.
UNLAWFULLY AT LARGE
Cornwall, Ont. – A 15 year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 15th of March, 2011 for Unlawfully at Large. The male is a resident of a Cornwall youth facility and is required to remain there. It is alleged that the male left the facility at approximately 04:00 p.m. Police were contacted. Approximately 2 hours later, the youth returned to the facility. He is facing 1 count of Unlawfully at Large and was released to appear in court on the 21stof April, 2011 to answer to the charge. His name is withheld due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
