Cornwall ON – There’s an old sports saying…”if you can’t beat em, beat em up” and helped San Jose to a 3-2 game 7 victory in what probably has been the most entertaining and by line filled series of this Stanley Cup play off season.
San Jose now goes off to face off against Vancouver. It should one of the most enigmatic hockey series ever as both teams face reps of not being able to get over the hump which both have done this year.
Patrick Marleau is smiling. He delivered the winning goal and a big game when the former captain has been much maligned.
Joe Thornton didn’t register a shot, but Devon Setoguchi was on fire scoring on one goal and assisting on another. Detroit lost Todd Bertuzzi early in the first and already missing Johan Franzen couldn’t make up the size factor. Detroit still can be thanked for giving Hockey writers something to write about as the 2010 2011 season edges to an end.
I have a hunch captain Niklas Lidstrom is back for another year. 🙂
