“Mrs. Malyon has been the Chamber’s Office Administrator for the past three years and during that time, she has established herself as a talented and highly capable individual,” states Shaver. “In addition to handling its day to day administrative affairs, she has successfully coordinated a number of projects including this year’s acclaimed Business Excellence Awards and the soon to be launched BizFest.”
According to Executive Manager, Lezlie Strasser, Ms. Malyon will be responsible for membership development, recruiting, and maintaining the Chamber’s connection with member businesses along with the day-to-day operations of the Chamber and its Licence Bureau. “As the Chamber’s advocacy role increases, so do the demands on our office,” reports Strasser.
Malyon brings a fresh approach to the position and over the next few months, members can expect to be introduced to a number of innovative programs and events. “She has already brought a number of new ideas to the Chamber and members can look forward to even more as we look ahead to 2012,” continues Strasser.
Malyon expressed enthusiasm about her new role. “It’s an exciting opportunity for me and I’m looking forward to working with our Chamber team and our entire membership. Look for me on Facebook and Twitter and of course, business professionals can always reach me by e-mail or at the Chamber office.”
The Chamber’s structure has an Assistant Executive Management position as part of the organization but the position has been in abeyance for the past number of years. A recent staff restructuring, coupled with an increasing advocacy role and general activity levels has caused the Board of Directors to determine that re-establishing the Assistant’s position was in the best interests of the Chamber and its more than 700 members. The change is effective immediately.
