BREACHES

 

            Cornwall, ON- A 12 year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 21st of October, 2011. The youth was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions of keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to follow house rules and abide by a curfew set out by parents and probation officer. The youth was also bound by an undertaking with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour as well as to not be away from the residence after 6 pm unless in the presence of a parent or step-parent. It is alleged that on the 21st of October, 2011 the youth failed to return home. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. The youth was charged with 2 counts of breach of probation order and 2 counts of breach of undertaking. The youth was held in custody until court the following day. The youth’s name was not released as per provision under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

Cornwall, ON- Ronald Cooper, 22 of Long Sault was arrested on the 22nd of October, 2011. He was bound by an undertaking with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and abide by a curfew from 11 pm to 6 am. It is alleged that on the 22nd of October, 2011 he was located by members of the Cornwall Community Police Service Patrol Division away from his residence. He was charged with 2 counts of breach of undertaking and held in custody until court the following day.

 

DRUGS

 

            Cornwall, ON- Patrick St.Jean, 29 of Grenville, Quebec, was arrested on the 21st of October, 2011. He was bound by a recognizance with the condition of not to possess any cellular phones. It is alleged that on the 21st of October, 2011 members of the Cornwall Community Police Service Patrol Division found the male in the possession of controlled substances and 2 cell phones. Police seized a quantity of substances believed to be ecstasy, methadone and cocaine. The total value of seized drugs and property is estimated at $1400.00. He was charged with 3 counts of possession of controlled substance, 2 counts of possession for the purpose and breach of recognizance. He was released to appear in court on the 6th of December, 2011 to answer to the charges.

 

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, THREATS & ASSAULT

 

            Cornwall, ON- Niko Charbonneau, 39 of Cornwall was arrested on the 22nd of October, 2011. He was bound by a Probation Order with a relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that on the 22nd of October, 2011 he got into an altercation with a 32 year-old male acquaintance when he assaulted him and proceeded to threaten him while holding a knife. The victim suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with assault, assault with a weapon and utter threats. He was released to appear in court on the 8th of November, 2011.

 

BREAK & ENTER ARREST

 

            Cornwall, ON- Five Cornwall youths between the ages of 13 and 16 were arrested on the 22nd of October, 2011. It is alleged that on the 22nd of October, 2011, members of the Cornwall Community Police Service Patrol Division attended a Fourth Street East residence after receiving a complaint of a break and enter. Two youths were located at the residence and charged with break and enter. Upon further investigation, 3 additional youths were also charged with break and enter. They were all released to their parents to appear in court on the 17th of November, 2011. The names of the youths were not released as per provision under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

           

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON- A 16 year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 22nd of October, 2011 on the strength of an outstanding warrant. She was bound by two probation order with the condition keep the peace and be of good behavior, reside where approved by probation and obey residence curfew as set by probation and follow house rules. It is alleged that on the 10th of October, 2011 she left her residence and failed to return. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. She was located and charged with 4 counts of breach of probation order and released to appear in court on the 17th of November, 2011.

ASSAULT

            Cornwall, ON- A 29 year-old Cornwall women was arrested on the 23rd of October, 2011. It is alleged that on the 21st of October, 2011 she got into an altercation with her 40 year-old ex-husband when she assaulted him. His 36 year-old wife and her 13 year-old daughter attempted to intervened when they were also assaulted. The victims suffered minor injuries. She was charged with 3 counts of assault and released to appear in court on the 8th of November, 2011. Her name was not released as it would identify the victims in this incident.

            Cornwall, ON- A 15 year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 20th of October, 2011. The youth was bound by a probation order with the condition to keep the peace and be of good behavior as well as a recognizance with the conditions to attend school without truancy and actively participate and take all medications ordered by physician. It is alleged that on the 20th of October, 2011 the youth was reported to be acting up and failing to participate at school. It was also believed that the youth failed to take the required medication as prescribed. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. The youth was charged with breach of probation order and 2 counts of breach of recognizance. The youth was held in custody until court the following day. The youth’s name was not released as per provision under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

Cornwall, ON- A 12 year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 20th of October, 2011. The youth was bound by a probation order with the condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. The youth was also bound by an undertaking with relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and not to be away from residence after the hours of 18:00 unless with a parent. It is alleged that on the 18th of October, 2011 the youth failed to be in the residence for curfew. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. The youth was located and charged with breach of probation order and 2 counts of breach of undertaking. The youth was released to a parent to appear in court on the 10th of November, 2011. The youth’s name was not released as per provision under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

Cornwall, ON- Carie Lynn Poirier, 40 was arrested on the 20th of October, 2011. She was bound by a Conditional Sentence Order with relevant conditions of house arrest, save for employment and medical reasons and to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that on the 20th of October, 2011 she was located by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service Patrol Division to be away from her residence. She was charged accordingly and held in custody until court the following day.

DRUG WARRANT

 

            Cornwall, ON- Members of the Cornwall Community Police Service Street Crime Unit assisted by the Ontario Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Section executed a drug search warrant shortly after 3:30 p.m. on the 20th of October, 2011 at a Carleton Street residence. As a results of the investigation two people were arrested and charged with drug and criminal code related charges when they were allegedly found to be in the possession of controlled substances. Police seized a quantity of substances believed to be cocaine, marijuana and oxycodone.  The total value of seized drugs and property is estimated at $6000.00.

 

Richard Elio Marini, 47 of Cornwall was bound by a probation order with the condition to keep the peace and be of good behavior and to notify the Court or the probation officer in advance of any change of name or address. He was charged with 2 counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession for the purpose, possession of property obtained by crime and 2 counts of breach of probation order. He was held in custody until court the following day.

Jennifer lee Dixon, 24 of Cornwall was bound by an Undertaking with the relevant conditions of keep the peace and be of good behavior, not to be in possession of drugs except in accordance with a medical prescription and not to be found in possession of any cell phones or other electronic paging devices. She was charged with possession of property obtained by crime, 3 counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession for the purpose and 3 counts of breach of undertaking. She was held in custody until court the following day.

WARRANT

 

            Cornwall, ON- Charles Street, 35 of Sudbury was arrested on the 19th of October, 2011 under two outstanding warrants. It is alleged that he failed to attended court on the 20th of November, 2008 as well as on the 11th of August, 2009 when two bench warrants were issued. He was held in custody until court later that day.

 

THEFT & BREACHES

 

            Cornwall, ON- Mark Swerdfeger, 45 of Cornwall was arrested on the 19th of October, 2011. He was bound by a probation order with the condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. HE was also bound by an Undertaking with the relevant condition not to possess any drugs or alcohol. It is alleged that on the 19th of October 2011 he attended a Ninth Street store and removed property. He was detained by the store’s loss prevention officer and turned over to a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service Patrol Division. He was charged with theft under $5000.00, breach of probation order and breach of Undertaking. He was held in custody until court the following day.

 

MISCHIEF & BREACH

 

            Cornwall, ON- A 14 year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 19th of October, 2011. The youth was bound by a probation order with the conditions, to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and reside at a place that the Provincial Director approves of and abide by the rules of that residence. It is alleged that on the 19th of October, 2011 that he broke a window in his residence following an altercation with his mother. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with mischief under $5000.00 and breach of probation order. He was released to appear in court on the 8th of December, 2011 to answer to the charge. His name was not released as per provision under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

            Cornwall, ON- The Cornwall Community Police Service wishes to remind the Community that Halloween is fast approaching. Halloween is fun for people of all ages, but it’s important that you and your children remain safe. These simple tips will help make your Halloween celebration better than ever.

 

  • ·         Wear make-up instead of a mask, so you can see properly!
  • ·         Go trick or treating with family or friends. Let people know your route!
  • ·         An adult should check the treats you collect, before you eat them!
  • ·         Walk, don’t run; and look all ways before crossing the street. Trick or treat on one side

of the street, then the other side!

  • ·         Only go to homes with their lights on!
  • ·         Don’t go anywhere with a stranger!
  • ·         If someone invites you alone into a house say: “No thanks!”
  • ·         A flashlight will help light your way!
  • ·         You’ll walk more easily in a short costume!

MALE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY

(South Stormont) –  On 21Oct11,  at approximately 12:30am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a male threatening to harm himself on Headline Road, South Stormont Township.

The investigation revealed that a 43yr old male had made threats to harm himself and damage his residence. The male was taken into custody and taken to the Cornwall Community Hospital for evaluation.

Inside the residence police found a suspicious device, the O.P.P EDU (Explosive Disposal Unit) attended the scene and rendered the device inoperable.

There were no reported injures, the investigation is ongoing.
