Habs & Sens Blow 3 Goal Leads – NHL Scores and Round Up – December 9, 2011

CFN – Ugh, what was looking to be a great and gritty win turned out to be a shoot out loss for Habs fans last night.   Montreal jumped out to a 3-0 lead before allowing Vancouver back into the game finally losing 4-3.    Frederick St. Denis, Raphael Diaz, and Erik Cole scored for Montreal and that’s very telling.  When big teams come to town that’s when you show your character; something that this team at times is lacking from some of its top paid guys.

Something is not clicking with this squad.   Of course fan reaction is to fire the coach and media reports Thursday speculated that both Coach Martin and Pierre Gauthier, the GM, days were numbered.  This kind of loss certainly doesn’t improve their stock.

A lot of buzz on Alexei Emelin and his Boom Boom’s.   Something this team is lacking and something enticing about him and Jarred Tinordi creating an environment where opposing forwards enter the Habs zone with a hint of  fear.  If the thought of getting physically hit can slow up some invading forwards it should help the D and Carey Price.

Right now the Habs are in a weird space.   They’ve been hanging on to play off potential thanks to parity but are not showing any signs of being  a team of destiny.   Yes, Gomez, Markov, Spacek, Campoli, and a  few others aren’t back, but other teams have injuries and still get it together;  Pittsburgh coming to mind.   Montreal was also out shot 31-23.

As we get closer to the half way point of the season excuses are not solution.  Results are.

In other NHL Games Ottawa did a Montreal blowing a 3 goal lead only to lose to New Jersey 4-3, but that game was closer with local boy Jesse Winchester being 1 assist away from a Gordie Howe Hat Trick.

Jose Theodore and Florida shut out Boston 2-0; Chicago 3-2 over the Islanders in OT; Tampa 3 Rangers 2; Philly edged the Sidney Crosby less Penguins 3-2; Nashville 4-3 over Columbus; Detroit beat Phoenix 5-2; St.Louis doubled Anaheim 4-2 with Jaroslav Halak picking up the win.  Funny those Bobby Ryan trade rumors ended after their coach was fired….

Calgary got a rare win, 3-2 over Colorado; Minnesota beat LA 4-2 as they are showing that they are the real deal this season and San Jose pummeled Dallas 5-2.

So Hab fans.  Is there any magic to be had for Montreal in 2011/12 season?  You can post your comments below.
