Cornwall, ON- Valerie Tremblay, 31 of Cornwall was arrested on the 17th of April 2012. It is alleged that on the 5th of April 2012 during a supervised access visit with her child she assaulted a social worker by pushing her. Police were notified and an investigation ensued. The female was subsequently charged with assault and released to appear in court on the 22ndof May 2012.
Breaches
Cornwall, ON- Yvonne McMillan, 47 of Cornwall was arrested on the 17th of April 2012. She was bound by the provisions of a recognizance with the relevant condition to abstain from alcohol absolutely. It is alleged that on the 17th of April 2012 police were called to a residence on an unrelated matter and the female was observed to be under the influence of alcohol. She was subsequently charged with breach of recognizance and later released to appear in court on the 22nd of May 2012.
Cornwall, ON- Kaelin Witherspoon, 19 of Cornwall was arrested on the 17th of April 2012. She was bound by the provisions of a Recognizance with the relevant conditions to reside with surety, abide by the rules of the residence and obey a curfew. It is alleged that on the 12th of April 2012 she failed to abide by her conditions and police were contacted. The female was subsequently located by police and charged with two counts of breach of Recognizance and released to appear in court on the 12th of June 2012.
Theft
Cornwall, ON- Kim Duval, 32 of Cornwall was arrested on the 17th of April 2012. It is alleged that on the 16th of April 2012 she attended a Vincent Massey store, removed merchandise and left the store without paying for the merchandise. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The female was subsequently charged with theft under $5000 and released to appear in court on the 22nd of May 2012.
Warrant
Cornwall, ON- Aaron Fischer, 35 of Boisbriand Quebec was arrested on the 17th of April 2012 on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged that he committed various banking frauds in Cornwall in 2008 and a warrant for his arrest was issued. On the 17th of April 2012 he turned himself in to police and was held in custody until court the next day.
Drug Warrant
Cornwall, ON- Members of the Cornwall Community Police Service Street Crime Unit executed a search warrant shortly after 12 p.m. on the 17th of April, 2012 at a Fourth Street West residence. As a result of the investigation one male was arrested. Approximately 17 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine with a street value of over $1300, a taser, a small amount of Hydromorphone pills and a small amount of Canadian Currency were seized
Marcel Siep, 23 of Cornwall was bound by the provisions of recognizance with the relevant conditions to not possess any prohibited weapon and to keep the peace and be of good behavior. He was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of breach of recognizance. He was held in custody until court the following day.
Warrant
Cornwall, ON- A 24 year old Cornwall man was arrested on the 16th of April 2012 on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged that he failed to attend court on the 4th of April 2012 and a bench warrant was issued. On the 16th of April he turned himself in to police and was held in custody until court the next day. His name is not being released as it may identify the victim in the original incident.
Mischief
Cornwall, ON- A 21 year old Cornwall male and a 21 year old Cornwall female were arrested on the 16th of April 2012. It is alleged that on the 9th of April 2012 they got into an argument were both caused damage to mutually owned property. It is also alleged that during the argument the male assaulted the female. The male was charged with assault and mischief under $5000 and released to appear in court on the 29th of May 2012 while the female was charged with mischief under $5000 and released to appear in court on the 19th of June 2012. The names of the parties were not released.
Break and Enter
Cornwall, ON- The Cornwall Community Police Service is investigating a break and enter that occurred on the 14th of April 2012 at a York Street residence. It is alleged that when the victim answered the door the suspects forced their way in and assaulted both residents while demanding money. Suspect one is described as a male in his 20’s, approximately 5’11”, 180lbs with brown eyes, short brown hair, clean shaven with sideburns. He was last wearing dark jeans and a black t-shirt with a white skull on the front. The second male had a similar build to #1 but was wearing a mask, dark pants, gloves and a baseball cap. OPP Warn of Metal Thefts
(Smiths Falls, ON) – The OPP East Region Crime Unit is warning business and home owners of metal thefts. Since January 2010, the OPP in eastern Ontario have investigated 227 incidents involving the theft of rolls of copper, wiring and pipes. Suspects have been stealing metal worth hundreds of thousands from larger industrial locations, to small pieces of piping from behind toilets.
In 2010, the OPP in East Region investigated 86 thefts of metals, in 2011-141 incidents and so far in 2012-45 reported thefts.
These thefts have occurred from business locations to residential properties and summer cottages.
The OPP encourage everyone to take extra precaution in safe guarding materials and buildings. The public can assist by reporting suspicious activity immediately to their nearest police agency.
