CFN – Local Artist, Writer, & Photographer Jacqueline Milner submitted this amazing shot as our Cornwall Free News Photo of the day!
Very interesting to get a child’s perspective on things. According to my 5 year old niece, this is a “double bodied lady bug”. You can’t help but giggle. This is in fact a pair of Red Milkweed Beetles – Tetraopes tetraophthalmus. Tetraopes is one of the few insects that can safely feed on milkweed. The antennae actually split each eye in two. If you have any milkweed around your property you will surely spot some of these beetles.
