• Two (2) Wednesdays per month from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM as follows:

RECYCLE NOTES & REMINDERS – Did you know??

    • Last year the Township moved to single stream recycling – that means you don’t have to sort!!

    • Please do not use black garbage bags for your recycling – the drivers cannot tell it is for recycling and we definitely do not want to put recycling in the garbage!

  • Recycling only takes a moment … just drop it in the recycle box. Once you have enjoyed your item, be it a carton of milk or a can of pop, simply drop it into the recycle box, rather than a garbage bag, and it is done!

“Sweeping Up Winter From Under Your Feet”

The Public Works Department intends to start street sweeping in the very near future, weather dependent.

Hydrant Flushing and Maintenance Program

Hydrant flushing will be carried out from April 29-May 31

in the hamlets of Ingleside, Long Sault and St. Andrews West

  • During the flushing operation, poor water pressure and/or RED water may result.

  • This situation is temporary and may last up to two hours.

  • The coloured water is not hazardous.

  • If coloured water is detected, the public is requested to open their COLD water taps in order to clear the system.

ADOPT A ROAD PROGRAM

Let’s pitch in and help clean up our community!

The Township’s Adopt-A-Road Program is a public service program for volunteers to enhance local litter collection activities.  Many areas throughout the Province have endorsed a similar program.  This program is a way for environmentally conscious groups to contribute to a cleaner road system by picking up litter with the Township’s assistance. Please contact the Township office at 613-534-8889 for more information.

FIRE DEPARTMENT

A tragic fire on March 29th in East Gwillimbury resulted in the death of 4 family members.  Recently released information points to the fact there WERE NO SMOKE ALARMS on the main floor, only the upper floor and basement area.   Early detection is essential to provide the time to safely exit your home in the event of a fire.  Ensure you have:

  1. Working smoke detectors on all levels of your home;

  2. Practice your escape plan that includes two ways out of every area; and

  3. Have a location for family members to congregate once they have exited the home.
