ROBBERY
Cornwall, ON- Nicholas Bourgeois, age 22, of Cornwall, was arrested for Robbery on June 7, 2013. He is bound by a Probation Order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. He is also bound by an Undertaking with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that he approached a female from behind in the parking garage of the Cornwall Square and took her purse and shopping bag from her. Witnesses at the scene apprehended and detained the male. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with Robbery, Breach of Probation and Breach of Undertaking. He was held for a Bail Hearing on June 10, 2013. The victim suffered minor injuries. She did not require medical attention.
Cornwall, ON- Doug Anderson, age 29, of Cornwall, was arrested for Robbery on June 8, 2013. It is alleged that he was in the area of a Pitt Street pharmacy when he approached a motor vehicle, opened the door and took prescription medication from the hand of the occupant, then fled the area. A witness at the scene pursued and apprehended him. A struggle ensued and he produced bear mace to the witness. He fled the area and was apprehended later by police. He was charged with Robbery and two counts of Assault with a Weapon. He was held for a Bail Hearing on June 10, 2013. There were no injuries as a result of this incident.
ARSON
Cornwall, ON- Marc Joanette, age 48, of Cornwall, was arrested on June 8, 2013. On June 4, 2013, The Cornwall Police and The Cornwall Fire Department attended a fire at a home on Pine Street. An investigation was conducted and the male was charged with Arson and Injuring an Animal. He was held for a bail hearing June 10, 2013.
DOMESTIC MISCHIEF
Cornwall, ON- A 32-year-old Cornwall male and a 24-year-old Cornwall female who recently ended their common-law relationship, were arrested on June 7, 2013 for Mischief. It is alleged that on June 6, 2013, the male and the female caused damage to each other’s motor vehicles. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. Both were charged with Domestic Mischief. They were released to appear in court on July 9, 2013.
THEFT UNDER
Cornwall, ON- Two 16 year old males and one 15 year old male were arrested for Theft Under on June 8, 2013. It is alleged that on June 7, 2013, they stole several electronic items from the foster home of two of the males. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. The three males were charged with Theft Under $5000.00. They were released to appear in court on July 11, 2013. Their names are not being released as per provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Cornwall, ON- 18-year-old Dylan Jarvis, and a 17-year-old male, of Cornwall, along with a 16-year-old male of Dalkeith, were arrested on June 9, 2013 for Mischief and Theft. It is alleged that the males were breaking into motor vehicles in the parking lot of a Vincent Massey Drive Hotel. Police were contacted and an investigation followed.
Dylan Jarvis was located and charged with: Two counts of Mischief Under $5000, Theft Under $5000, Carry Concealed Weapon, Possession of Break in Tool, Trespass at Night, and several Condition Breaches. He was held for a Bail Hearing on June 10, 2013.
The 17-year-old male was located and charged with: Two counts of Mischief Under $5000.00 and Breach of Conditions. He was released to appear in court on July 11, 2013.
The 16-year-old male was located and charged with: Two counts of Mischief Under $5000.00 and several Condition Breaches. He was held for a Bail Hearing on June 10, 2013.
FRAUDS
Cornwall, ON- Kimberly Stephenson, age 37, of Cornwall was arrested for Fraud on June 7, 2013. Between April 19 and April 25, 2013, she made 13 fraudulent transactions at the Automated Teller Machine located at Scotiabank on Brookdale Avenue in Cornwall. On May 1, 2013, police were contacted and an investigation followed. She was charged with 13 counts of Fraud Under $5000.00, 7 counts of Uttering a Forged Document and 7 counts of Breach of Probation. She was released to appear in court on July 2, 2013.
Cornwall, ON- Nicole Chagnon, age 43, of Montreal, Quebec, was arrested on June 7, 2013, for Fraud. It is alleged that between June 6 and 7, 2013, she attended TD Canada Trust bank on Ninth Street East and purchased a money order using another person’s identity then attempted to cash the money order the next day. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. She was charged with Fraud Over $5000.00, two counts of Personation with Intent to Obtain Property, two counts of Identity Theft, Theft Under $5000.00, and Attempted Fraud. She was held for a Bail Hearing June 10, 2013.
Cornwall, ON- Melissa Menzies, age 33, Assistant Manager of the Bank of Montreal at 1328 Pitt Street was arrested on June 7, 2013. It is alleged that between April 24, 2012 and April 22, 2013, she used her position to defraud bank clients of more than $180,000.00. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. She was charged with Fraud Over $5000.00, Theft Over $5000.00, Laundering Proceeds of Crime, and Criminal Breach of Trust. She was released to appear in court on July 4, 2013.
DOMESTIC THREATS AND HARASSMENT
Cornwall, ON- A 21-year-old male, of Cornwall, was arrested on June 9, 2013. It is alleged that between April 1, 2013 and June 9, 2013, he harassed his ex-girlfriend by e-mail, text and telephone. He also threatened to burn her house down. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. The male was charged with Criminal Harassment and Uttering Threats to Property. He was released to appear in court on July 2, 2013.
BREAK AND ENTER
Cornwall, ON- Nancy Hutt, age 37, of Cornwall, was arrested on June 10, 2013 for Break and Enter. She is bound by a Probation Order with the relevant conditions to abstain from alcohol and keep the peace and be of good behaviour. She is also bound by an Undertaking with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that she broke into the unoccupied residence beside her and took some property. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. She was located at the back of the unoccupied residence. She was charged with Break and Enter, Trespass at Night, Breach of Undertaking and two counts of Breach of Probation. She was released to appear in court on July 16, 2013.
POSSESSION STOLEN PROPERTY
Cornwall, ON- Michael Fox, age 45, of Cornwall, was arrested on June 10, 2013 for possession of a stolen motor vehicle. It is alleged that he was the passenger in a motor vehicle reported stolen. The vehicle was spotted by police and pulled over on Alice Street. The driver fled the scene on foot. Michael Fox was charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000.00. He was released to appear in court on July 23, 2013.
BREACH CONDITIONAL SENTENCE
Cornwall, ON- Ashley Hutt, age 28, of Cornwall, was arrested on June 8, 2013. She was bound by a Conditional Sentence Order with the relevant conditions to be on full house arrest except for Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for necessities, and to keep the peace and be of good behavior. On June 8, 2013, Cornwall Police located her as the passenger in a vehicle which was following a police vehicle involved in an unrelated incident. She was charged with breaching her Conditional Sentence Order. She was held for a bail hearing June 10, 2013.
LAW ENFORCEMENT TORCH RUN FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS
Cornwall, ON – Communities across Ontario are preparing for the annual Torch Run which helps to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics. The Torch Run is an actual running event in which officers, athletes, volunteers and supporters alike run with the “Flame of Hope” all for a great cause.
Please encourage the Cornwall Community Police Service, staff and students from C.C.V.S., athletes and participants on Wednesday, June 12th at 11:00 am.
The participants will run from the Cornwall Community Police Service East End Station located at 330 Montreal Road and proceed west to Sydney Street, then north for a brief stop at C.C.V.S. The group will then continue north on Sydney Street until their arrival at Baxstrom’s Independent Grocer.

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATIONS RESULT IN CHARGES
(North Stormont) – On June 08, 2013 at approximately 9:30am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Front Street, North Stormont Township. Investigation revealed that an altercation between a female and her spouse resulted in the male being assaulted.
The 37year old female was arrested and is charged with;
– Assault
She was released to appear in Cornwall court on June 18, 2013.
(North Glengarry) – On June 08, 2013 at approximately 5:15pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Main Street in the town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township. Investigation revealed an altercation between a 21year old male and his 20year old spouse resulted in both assaulting each other. The female also damaged property within the home.
Both were arrested. The male is charged with;

TRAFFIC STOP NETS IMPAIRED DRIVER
(South Stormont) – On June 08, 2013 at approximately 10:30am, an SD&G OPP officer had the occasion to stop a vehicle on Cornwall Centre Road, South Stormont Township for a traffic violation. The stop revealed the male driver was under the influence of alcohol.
Jay Wesley ASHFORD (32) of South Glengarry was arrested and is charged with;
– Impaired Driving
– Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content
He also faces several charges as per the Highway Traffic Act. On the criminal charges, he was released to appear in Cornwall court on June 25, 2013.
DUO CHARGED WITH MISCHIEF
(North Glengarry) – On June 09, 2013 at approximately 5:15am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of mischief incidents occurring at several locations in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township. Officers located incidents at 12 different sites where the following acts were committed; garbage cans overturned, signs removed, construction pylons moved, property damaged. Police arrested 2 males in Alexandria a short time later.

BREAK-INS
(North Stormont) – On June 08, 2013 at approximately 3:30am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a break-in at store on Queen Street in the Village of Crysler, North Stormont Township. Investigation revealed culprit(s) has smashed a window accessing the property and removed a quantity of cigarettes. A few hours later, 2 other reports were received of break-ins to another store on Queen Street and one on Cockburn Street (Crysler). Again, windows were smashed accessing entry. A quantity of cash, cigarettes and food products were stolen. All 3 are being investigated as related.
(South Stormont) – Overnight 08-09Jun13, a storage trailer was forcibly entered at a property on Grantley Drive, South Stormont Township. Inside, a quantity of various power tools were stolen.
An investigation continues.

Mississauga (10 June, 2013) — Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is appealing for witnesses to a fatal interaction that occurred Saturday evening between Toronto Police Service officers and a 39-year-old male in Scarborough.
Preliminary information indicates the following:
• Around 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2013, officers with the Toronto Police Service responded to an apartment building located at 140 Adanac Drive in Scarborough to deal with an Emotionally Disturbed Person;
• While inside the building, officers encountered another individual;
• An interaction between police and the man ensued outside the building, resulting in the man sustaining gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The SIU has assigned five investigators and three forensic investigators to probe the circumstances of this incident. One subject officer and three witness officers have been designated.
Anyone who may have information regarding this case is asked to contact the lead investigator at 416-622-2150 or 1-800-787-8529 ext. 2150.
The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault. Under the Police Services Act, the Director of the SIU must
- consider whether an officer has committed a criminal offence in connection with the incident under investigation
- depending on the evidence, lay a criminal charge against the officer if appropriate or close the file without any charges being laid
- report the results of any investigations to the Attorney General.
