Cornwall, ON – A 20-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman both of Cornwall were arrested on the 12th of August, 2013. It is alleged that during an argument with her 28-year-old ex-boyfriend the woman punched him in the head causing an injury that required medical attention. The man later threatened to harm him during a Facebook conversation. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation on the 12th of August, 2013 police located the man and the woman, both were subsequently charged, the man with Threats and the woman with Aggravated Assault. They were transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing. Their names were not released as it might identify the victim.

 

BREACHES

 

            Cornwall, ON – Shane Sarault, 21 of Cornwall was arrested on the 12th of August, 2013 and charged with breaching a Recognizance for being in the company of persons under the age of sixteen and breaching a Probation order for not keeping the peace. It is alleged that on the 11th of August, 2011 the man babysat someone under the age of sixteen for a short period of time. Police learned of the incident and an investigation ensued. During their investigation they located the man at his residence, took him into custody and charged him accordingly. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

 

Cornwall, ON – Zachary McKinnon, 22 of Cornwall was arrested on the 13th of August, 2013 and charged with breaching an Undertaking for failing to notify a change of address and not keeping the peace. He was also charged with breaching a Probation order for having consumed alcohol and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that while police were investigating a disturbance in the area of Fifth Street and Bedford Street police observed the man to be intoxicated and it was further learned he was of no fixed address. He was taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

 

WARRANT

 

            Cornwall, ON – Pierre Godbout, 51 of Cornwall was arrested on the 13th of August, 2013 on the strength of a Warrant. It is alleged that the man was required to attend court on the 13th of December, 2012, however failed to attend and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On the 13th of August, 2013 while investigating an unrelated matter the man was located by police and taken into custody. He was transported to police headquarters and later released with a court date of the 12th of September, 2013.

(South Glengarry) – On 11Aug13, at approximately 2:30am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on River Road, South Glengarry Township.

The investigation revealed that a 24yr old male (Mitchell GEORGEOFF of Ottawa, On) was operating a 2005 Mazda when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and went into the ditch. The male was located nearby and he was found to be operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

– Impaired Operation / Motor Vehicle / Alcohol
– Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content / Motor Vehicle
– Theft Over $5,000 of a Motor Vehicle

He is scheduled to appear 27Aug13 in Cornwall court.
(North Dundas) – On 11Aug13, at approximately 2:00pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a possible stolen vehicle on Van Camp Road, North Dundas Township.

The investigation revealed that two males had taken a 1999 Ford van without permission. Further investigation found the 47yr old male driver (Steve Saunders of North Dundas) was operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

– Impaired Operation / Motor Vehicle / Alcohol
– Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content / Motor Vehicle
– Take Motor Vehicle without Consent

The 27yr old male passenger (Patrick HARPER of South Dundas) faces charges of:

– Take Motor Vehicle without Consent
– Breach of Probation

Both men are scheduled to appear 03Sept13 in Morrisburg court.
(North Glengarry) – On 11Aug13, at approximately 10:00pm, SD&G OPP officers had occasion to conduct a traffic stop on Skye Road, North Glengarry Township.

The stop revealed that the 47yr old male driver (Douglas LESLIE of Montreal, QC) was operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

– Impaired Operation / Motor Vehicle / Alcohol
– Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content / Motor Vehicle

He is scheduled to appear 04Set13 in Alexandria court.
DOMESTIC INCIDENT

(South Dundas) – On 12Aug13, at approximately 8:30pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic incident on Bourks Hill Road, South Dundas Township.

The investigation revealed that a female and her 42yr old common-law husband were involved in a verbal altercation that resulted in the male assaulting the female and another male in the residence.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

– Assault
– Overcoming Resistance to Commit indictable Offence
– Assault Cause Bodily Harm

He was held in custody pending an appearance in Cornwall court.
RACING LAW INFRACTION

the Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault & Child Abuse Section is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying four suspects wanted in relation to a sexual assault.

On Sunday, August 11, 2013 at approximately 5:00am, a young woman was sitting at the Blair Road Transit Station when she was approached by a group of males who offered her cash for sex. When the victim refused, she was led to a secluded area in the 1600 block of James Naismith Drive where she was robbed and sexually assaulted.

A nearby security guard was alerted to the incident when he heard screams and immediately contacted Ottawa Police.

The four suspects are described as being black males, approximately 18-20 years old,  6 feet tall (183cm) and short black hair. They spoke English and an unknown foreign language.

  • The first suspect was wearing a black t-shirt with stripes and black pants;
  • The second suspect was wearing a blue and white striped t-shirt, dark pants and a white ball cap;
  • The third suspect was wearing a dark colored long sleeve shirt with white lettering, dark pants and a white ball cap.
  • The fourth suspect was wearing a black t-shirt.

Fatal collision involving a Pedestrian

The Ottawa Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit continues its investigation of incidents in the Ritchie street area. The police investigation has determined that the assaults and the shooting are two separate incidents.

It was found that the shooting occurred approximately 40 minutes prior to the assaults and that the participants in the assaults are not involved in the shooting.

The Guns and Gangs Unit is investigating both incidents.
