CFN – Sprint Car fans will be pleased this Sunday as three 360 Sprint Car sanctions worked together to present an event at Cornwall along with Sportsman, Pro-Stock as the Semi-Pro had a special 25-lap event and the Vintage Stock Car Club were also be present on Nortrax Night.
Patrick Vigneault was the early leader of the co-sanctioned Patriot/SOS and CAOSS 25-lap Sprint Car feature race, Vigneault quickly led 2 laps as April Wilson stopped in the backstretch. Vigneault had company in Jason Barney and Steve Poirier behind him. Poirier used a lap 4 restart to grab the lead over Vigneault. A crash occurred in turn 4 and red flag was out with 6 laps down. Poirier to the lead with Vigneault still close to the leader as lapped traffic became an issue, Barney got around Vigneault and then used the inside lane to pass Poirier for the lead on lap 16. Jared Zimbardi got side by side with Vigneault for third with 5 laps to go. Barney led the final portion of the feature and won the event over Poirier and Vigneault.
The Alexandria Home Hardware 20-lap Pro-Stock feature had Michel Desjardins as the early leader. Desjardins had a great battle with Claude Parisien and George Renaud with 7 laps completed. Renaud used the inside lane as he took the lead at halfway point over Desjardins. Renaud led the second portion of the race to grab win #2 of 2013 on Desjardins and Roch Aubin finishing in third.
Adam Rozon led the 20-car field to the green in the 20-lap Tracy Wheeler Storm Realty Sportsman feature. Rozon led the first 8 laps as caution came out for Scott McGill who slowed down in turn 3. Mitch Primeau had a good start and took the lead over Rozon. Several position changes on a lap 9 restart as Primeau was the leader with Corey Wheeler, Joey Ladouceur and Chris Herbison joining the leader. Rain started to fall on lap 13 and yellow lights were out. The race was called in and Primeau won his first feature of his career.
Pascal Racette took the early lead in the special 25-lap Evans Bus Lines Semi-Pro feature; Racette had several cars on his back bumper as Steve Billings and Nicolas Gauvreau were behind with 8 laps completed. Billings got to the lead on the next lap as caution came out with 14 laps to go. Billings kept the pace up front as Kevin Fetterly was running in second. Billings got caught by a slower car and Bruno Richard took the lead with only 2 laps to go. Richard led the final laps to capture his first event of the season in front of Billings and Fetterly.
The 15-lap Vintage Modified Club saw Dave Wilgosh grab the lead and never looked back to capture the win over Jason Power and Denzil Billings jr.
