CFN – Quebec’s new Charter of Shame has been condemned loudly outside of the province. It’s also be loudly rejected within by the opposition parties, by labour, by Mayoralty candidates in Montreal, Quebec’s largest union federation, the mayors of the 15 other municipalities on the island of Montreal, a prominent Bloc Québécois MP (expelled from the tiny BQ caucus Thursday), a major teachers’ union, the Fédération des femmes du Québec have all come out publicly against that part of the charter, and even a group of prominent separatist intellectuals.
Quebec has a minority government. Isn’t it about time for the other two parties to end this farce and allow the voters of Quebec to send the rest of Canada and the World a clear message?
Either Quebecers support this utter racist and faux “pure laine” rhetoric or they don’t. With roads crumbling, sinkholes appearing, and its economy moving in the wrong direction the PQ clearly shows that it isn’t capable of leading the province when its solutions are to come up with policies like this that only divide a province that doesn’t need division.
This charter is part of the PQ strategy to chase out the ethnics who will never vote for them in a referendum.
This province is a shame, Jamie. I’m still confused as to whether or not Harper is castrated or if Marois has him by the short and curlies. Either that or the feds are powerless to invoke any laws to reign in Quebec or have just decided that everything will work itself out in the end. What I continously see from our Federal government in response to Quebec’s social ills is a whole lot of nothing, though. And this in and of itself is very dangerous, indeed.

All parties in that province are on the same “cleansing” crusade.
They have been doing this kind of “cleansing” in Quebec for many decades. It it is (and has been) a slow (but omnipresent) and methodical push.
They are now beginning the process outside of Quebec. A slow but yet incessant claw back of anything OTHER THAN French wherever they gain a foothold in so far as population numbers go. Right now that push is in central and eastern Ontario.
They even have “provincially subsidized” (yes, everyone is paying for this) FRENCH ONLY health care clinics that turn away anyone THAT DOES NOT SPEAK FRENCH or is not of French decent.
The Montfort hospital (which was re-born as a “bilingual” hospital when they were looking for funding from the federal government and from those in the immediate community) has, for all intents and purposes, been turned into a French only facility. More telling yet, it’s actually one of theeeee most important “teaching” hospitals in this area.

In light of this, I invite everyone to think about the implications of this. Since this is now a predominantly French “teaching” hospital in that ONTARIO area, what group is benefiting most from this? Which group will reep the most benefits in so far as training the most Dr’s, nurses, nurses aids, interns etc etc which will then be sent out to work in the surrounding communities like Ottawa, Vanier, Kanata, Orleans etc etc?
These newly trained French Dr’s will likely not return to work in Quebec as their heath care system sucks and all the French people from Quebec are coming to Ontario for treatment.

The answer is quite clear. It certainly WILL NOT be the unilingual Anglophone community. The community that (since they are the majority) are the ones that put the most tax dollars INTO THIS hospital yet, they are the group that benefits the least.
The unilingual Anglophone community in Ontario benefits the least in USING the Montfort hospital in more ways than one. Firstly, in the sense that the Montfort is a “mostly French” teaching facility AND secondly it is not as friendly to anglophones as a very modern brand new hospital in that ONTARIO area.
So, in answer to the poll above i say no. Don’t bring the Marois government down only to end up dealing with the same cr@p with another party but in a less — IN YOUR FACE — type of way.
I say we deal with this issue on a larger scale. I say the majority Anglophone Canadians MUST wake up and STOP allowing themselves to be taken advantage of. The majority Anglo Canadians NEED TO demand that Quebec powers that be (whomever that is — which also DESPERATELY NEEDS TO BE DEFINED — ) MUST decide whether they are going to be a province or a country.
If they are a province then the federal government HAS A DUTY to defend the rights of the tax paying minority Canadian citizens within those borders, within — ALL OF it’s borders as a matter of FACT —
If they are going to consider themselves a country then WE MUST move ahead with a legitimate vote so we can rid Canada of this cancer which is dragging us down. They m7ust be given that opportunity to sink or swim on their own. Let them face the wrath and condemnation on the world stage for such idiotic laws. STOP allowing them to hid behind the coat tales of CANADA while sucking billions from us as they laugh all the way to the bank.
IF Quebec wishes to have a leader who comes up with such “laws of shame” then let them do so — AS A SEPARATE ENTITY — and wear that shame on their own collective shoulders and faces.

There is a great deal more to this problem than just a French or English problem. We are facing what is called a multicultural society where there are many ethnic groups and many religions and all fighting one another even though we do not hear much being spoken about. I want all of you to put this English-French thing put aside and read what I am going to tell you what is going on.
If you go to Europe there is a humoungous problem of Islam taking over and what Islam wants to do is to spread Islam worldwide and if you do not convert to their strange ways then they will kill you. The Muslim people multiply like rabbits while Christians have only so many children. This is the trick why so many non Christians are immigrating to the west. Not because they like our way of life because they don’t – they hate us. It is like what Walid Shoebat mentioned about the word “maroune” pronounced like “maroon-eh” meaning that you cannot tell what the eastern mind is thinking. The eastern person can smile at you and all the time he or she is thinking something else. I had that confirmed as well by my Lebanese Christian husband to know what Walid said is true. Another person saying about what is going on is a Lebanese woman who immigrated to the US who calls herself Brigitte Gabriel and she is a maronite Christian like my husband who went through literal hell during the Lebanese Civil War and is from one of the very worst villages in southern Lebanon to be destroyed called Marjayoun. Canada, the US, Australia, Europe, S. America and the entire world is in deep crisis and this is what these wars are all about. Just now at this present time there are over 1 million children as refugees from Syria alone in refuge in tents in the Arab countries. Damascas is going to be destroyed entirely and people will not be able to return. I won’t go into this but it is also in the Bible. Damascas is the oldest city on earth.
There is a great deal more that I can talk about on this subject but Jamie will be upset and others too because I do everything I can to tell you what is true. The UN has an enormous crisis on their hands. Mme Marois does not want Islam in her province and I don’t blame this lady one darn bit at all. Everywhere the Islamic people have lived a place becomes deteriorated. I am not the one to knock down others and yes there are some good Islamic people and that is the truth. It is what is in their minds that is very dangerous.

“edudyorlik” I went to a French school all my life as a child through teenage years and I remember as a child in Cornwall kids from English schools coming over behind the fence at our French school yelling obsene things at all of us who attended a French speaking school. Cornwall has been racist for as long as I can remember and that was long time before former French President De Gaule went to Montreal and gave his famous speech of “Vive le Québec Francais Libre”. Before I was born and after I was born and I am talking about the 50’s era and before Marlborough Street was the dividing line where people of the opposite nationality could not cross that line without repercussions.
Here in Ottawa we have Québec just a skip and a hop across the bridge and none of us behave in that way. I used to work in Québec for three months in one place and another three months in another and one of the places that I worked over there was hard for me to leave since I liked working with the gang that was there. Not once whether being permanent or contract have I ever heard bad things against the French people or Québec whether here in Ottawa’s side or in Québec itself.
If you ever had to live in Europe then you would know what Mme Marois is talking about. My section of Ottawa is full of Muslims and other areas have plenty as well. If you knew the real truth about how they infiltrate to gain access to your country and the entire world then you would stand up for Mme Marois. I am both English and French and I stand up wholeheartedly for this lady.

It’s more dangerous than what you make reference to, though. Take for intstance, the subject you’re discussing with the issue of children. Usually, parents interject into the problems children are facing. Once explained to them the dangers/evils of their doings (by the parents), children will then see the stupidity of their actions and will forgive one another; continuing to play in the sandbox.
Now we have several freedom and language related issues that are seriously hampering individual’s rights and the ability for some to earn a living in this country. Admittedly, there is a minority group that is currently receiving not only preferrential treatment at all levels of government as far as hiring is concerned; but also has their language protected by laws that hamper the use of all other languages.
One side of this issue (the English/and increasingly other ethnic groups too) are now taking note of this mistreatment and unfairness in all of this. They are now coming forward after years of this kind of stuff and are now recording these things and submitting it to news agencies and are forwarding their concerns to politicians at all levels and are posting it on social media for public awareness.
The other side in this equation has also not remained quiet. They have been on the active side as well; we’ve seen their mindset with such activities as in Montreal this year with flag day and most recently with the Lumieres 101, night. These activities promote/protect the instituting of these laws that prop up their language to the detriment of all others. The fact that this occurs creates absolutely no ill-feelings nor feelings of shame within the group. It’s a full-steam ahead, what’s-in-it-for me kind of attitude.
Now remember how I made reference to the children and parents? I would like to use that metaphor now when describing this relationship between the French people and all others living within Canada. The children are arguing and are now within a few short strands of real, dangerous violence with one-another. We have to call into question where is the adult (Government) in all of this?
This is where we find ourselves today. Where is the federal government in all of this to question and to do something about all of these unfair laws in Canada and racist behaviour that comes out of Quebec?
let me see now I hate the law of course but if these people effected decide to move to Ontario will they help us get our Christmas back so business can again say Merry Christmas and songs can again be sung in schools during the Christmas season and what about religious crosses in places like schools. And if politicians in Ottawa fight for their rights under the constitution will they fight for the rights of new immigrants to have their kids taught in the language of there choice and will the English store owners in Montreal be able to put his English sign up again and will employees be able to speak French to fellow employees on lunch break . Will Federal politicians stand-up for English Canadians in there own country in Quebec under the charter or will they only fight for immigrants
But the main question today will the people effected by this law fight for our religious symbols and songs in public place will they do that here in Ontario for us now FOOD FOR THOUGHT
@Cory when i was in grade 3 i moved from Ontario to Quebec i was in a Catholic school i was bullied almost daily by the Kids from the protestant school for being English when i moved back to Ontario i was beat up daily at school for being a Frenchie at my own Catholic school. your right “kids will be kids” but their teachers and their parents well that’s another story we are what we eat they say the the seeds do not fall that far from the tree .
It has been my experience that other religions respect Christian’s rights to celebrate Christmas and Easter and sing our carols and have Christmas trees. It’s the politically correct sectarian authorities that think we are all offended by the other’s religious ceremonies.
The Hindus, Muslims, Jews, Wiccan, Druids and Buddhists that I have known and worked with really enjoy Christmas. Now there are a couple of Christian based sects that are really judgmental and don’t participate in Christmas celebrations at all.
