THEFT UNDER $5000

Cornwall, ON – Blake Atwell, 38 and Sherry Atwell, 36 both of Cornwall were arrested on January 17^th, 2014 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of their probation order for failing to keep the peace. The woman was also charged with breaching a recognizance order for having failed to keep the peace. It is alleged that on January 17^th, 2014 they attended a Ninth Street grocery store and removed packages of steak and chicken then exited the store making no attempts to pay for the items. The woman was stopped by the Loss Prevention Officer while the man refused to cooperate and walked away. Police were contacted and located the man a short distance away. Both were taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on February 20^th, 2014.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 14-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on January 18^th, 2014 and charged with breaching his recognizance for not abiding by house rules, being out past curfew and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that the youth left his residence on January 17^th, 2014 and had not returned when police were contacted on January 18^th, 2014. Police located the youth at a Louisa Street address, took him into custody and charged him accordingly. The youth was later released with a court date of February 13^th, 2014. His name was not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

CARE AND CONTROL

Cornwall, ON – Darryl Sirard, 29 of Cornwall was arrested on January 19^th, 2014 and charged with care and control and over 80. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of January 19^th, 2014 the man was found to be in the control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol at a parking lot of a local bar. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released with a future court date.

Cornwall, ON – Michael Ellis, 35 of Laval, Quebec was arrested on January 19^th, 2014 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of January 19^th, 2014 the man was found to be operating a motor vehicle in the area of Seventh Street and Cumberland while under the influence of alcohol. The man was taken into custody during a traffic stop and charged accordingly. He was later released with a court date of January 28^th, 2014.

ASSAULT, THEFT

Cornwall, ON – A 20-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on January 19^th, 2014 and charged with assault and theft under $5000. It is alleged that on January 19^th, 2014 the man was involved in a verbal argument with his 19-year-old ex-girlfriend when he pushed her and took her house keys from her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation police located the man in the area of the boat launch. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.
