THEFT UNDER
Cornwall, ON – Jonathan Deruchie, 40 0f Cornwall was arrested on January 24th, 2014 and charged with two counts of theft under $5000. It is alleged that on January 24th, 2014 the man attended a Ninth Street store and selected several packages of steak and chicken then left the store making no attempts to pay for the items. The man was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. When the man was taken into custody by police the man was found to be in possession of several other items belonging to a neighbouring store. The man was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on February 20th, 2014.
Cornwall, ON – A 14-year-old Cornwall Youth was arrested on January 26trh, 2014 and charged with theft under $5000, breach of probation and recognizance for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that between January 25th, 2014 and January 26th, 2014 the youth removed $20.00 from his mother’s wallet. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On January 26th, 2014 during the course of their investigation the youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on February 27th, 2014. His name was not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
WARRANT
Cornwall, ON – Stephanie Lynch, 24 of Cornwall was arrested on January 24th, 2014 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that on January 14th, 2014 the woman failed to attend court for drug related charges and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On January 24th, 2014 a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service spotted the woman in the area of Glengarry Boulevard and Second Street. The woman was taken into custody and later released to appear in court on February 20th, 2014.
ASSAULT, MISCHIEF UNDER $5000
Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on January 24th, 2014 and charged with assault and mischief under $5000. It is alleged that on January 24th, 2014 while at a McGregor Avenue residence the man was involved in a verbal argument with his 27-year-old ex-girlfriend when he damaged her car by ripping some wires out from under the hood. The man then pushed his ex-girlfriend and left the area. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was located by police in the area of Brookdale Avenue and Ninth Street. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.
IMPAIRED OPERATION, OBSTRUCT, RESIST
Cornwall, ON – Stephane Deguire, 29 and Tyler Bissonnette, 20 both of Cornwall were arrested on January 25th, 2014 and charged as follows:
Stephane Deguire:
· Impaired operation
· Over 80
Tyler Bissonnette:
· Obstruct police
· Resist arrest
· Breach of probation for failing to keep the peace
It is alleged that on January 25th, 2014 Stephane Deguire was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol in the area of Montreal road and Prince Arthur Street. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop and charged accordingly. It is also alleged that during the traffic stop Tyler Bissonnette a passenger in the vehicle was obstructing police. He was taken into custody and during the arrest he resisted police. He was also charged accordingly. Both were later released with a future court date.
Cornwall, ON – Shawn Labelle, 35 of Cornwall was arrested on January 26th, 2014 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of January 26th, 2014 the man was found to be operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. During a traffic stop in the area of Pitt Street and Tolgate Road the man was taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was later released to appear in court on February 6th, 2014
CRIMINAL HARASSMENT
Cornwall, ON – Niaz-Ali Janjua, 25 of Montreal was arrested on January 25th, 2014 and charged with criminal harassment. It is alleged that on December 14th, 2013 the man repeatedly contacted a 48-year-old Cornwall man by way of phone despite having been told not to. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On January 25th, 2014 police located the man at a Vincent Massey Drive address and took him into custody. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
TAXI FRAUD, THEFT
Cornwall, ON – Allen Tupper, 24 of Laval, Quebec was arrested on January 26th, 2014 and charged with transportation fraud and theft under $5000. It is alleged that the man took a taxi from Laval, Quebec to Cornwall then asked the cab driver for his cellular phone to contact his father for the $273.00 cab fare. The man then fled from the scene not paying for his fare all the while taking the cellular phone with him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was then spotted in the city by another cab driver and police were contacted and attended the location. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
ASSAULT, SEXUAL ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – A 42-year-old Akwesasne man was arrested on January 26th, 2014 and charged with two counts of assault and one count of sexual assault. It is alleged that during the months of December, 2013 and January 2014 the man grabbed his ex-girlfriend by the throat on two occasions and sexually assaulted her on one occasion. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On January 26th, 2014 the police located the man at Bellamy Street address, took him into custody and charged him accordingly. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.
CRIMINAL HARASSMENT
Cornwall, ON – A 37-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on January 26th, 2014 and charged with criminal harassment. It is alleged that on January 25th and 26th, 2014 the man contacted his ex-girlfriend on several occasions despite being warned by police not to. Police were called and an investigation ensued. During their investigation they located the man at a Seventh Street address and took him into custody. He was charged accordingly and later released with a court date of March 4th, 2014. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.
ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – A 49-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on January 26th, 2014 and charged with assault. It is alleged that on January 26th, 2014 the man was involved in a verbal argument with his 25-year-old girlfriend over cigarettes when he grabbed her by her wrist. Police were called and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. RESIST ARREST, TRESPASSING
Cornwall, ON – Christopher Deschambault, 26 of Monkland was arrested on January 27th, 2014 and charged with trespass to property and resist arrest. It is alleged that on January 27th, 2014 the intoxicated man refused to leave a Belmont Street address when he was asked to leave by the residents. Police were contacted and upon arrival the man once again refused to leave the residence as directed. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle and charged accordingly. He was later released with a court date of March 4th, 2014.
