CORNWALL Ontario – There’s a HEAT ALERT for the Cornwall Ontario area for today as temps are expected to hit 40c with the humidex.
That means stay hydrated with extra care for seniors and those with health related issues.
Also, leaving children and pets is even more of a danger than normal.
Rains are expected to cool things down for Wednesday.
The EOHU has not issued an alert as of press time. Dr. Paul must be busy…
Places in the area to stay cool if you don’t have air conditioning in your home are the Civic Complex and area shopping malls.
For Summer safety it’s always best to get fresh air in your homes at night or early or late in the day and close blinds and windows during the hottest part of the day.
Check on elderly neighbors and cold fresh fruit can not only make you feel better, but help put nutrients into your system to replenish what is sweated away in these temperatures.
Extreme heat can cause health problems, including cramps, dizziness, headache, heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Heat stroke can be fatal if left untreated.
Avoid strenuous exertion in the heat.
Stay cool, stay safe!
Please check on seniors without A/C. Take them to air conditioned buildings…..the Civic Comples, Cornwall Square, etc. to help them cool down.
This heat would be very hard on people who are elderly, disabled and ill who have heart, diabetes and other health issues. Stay cool folks and use your fans or a/c. We have three fans on the go here and still mighty hot. This is still nothing compared to the southern US and to my husband’s Lebanon.
Jules, you should get yourself a motorcycle. It’s a great way to cool off, and even Jesus would approve. Well, maybe not. Might be too much fun.
Furtz you are funny. I don’t even drive a car let alone operate a motorcycle. You are funny as usual. LOL LOL. Yes the wind at my back and I sure wear a red scarf as well. That would sure be a weird attraction. LOL LOL. ROLF!
