            Cornwall, ON – Lise Dufresne, 48 of Cornwall was arrested on July 21st, 2014 on the strength of a warrant and was also charged with theft under $5000 and breach of undertaking and probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on April 24th, 2014 the woman attended a second Street East store, selected two curling irons and hair products making no attempts to pay for the items as she left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On July 21st, 2014 the woman was located at a Brookdale Avenue address. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, THREATS, MISCHIEF

            Cornwall, ON – A 37-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 21st, 2014 and charged with threats, three counts of assault, two counts of assault with a weapon and two counts of mischief. It is alleged that during an argument on July 20th and 21st, 2014 the man threatened to kill his 22-year-old girlfriend and her family then slapped her in the face and struck her with a sandal. During the argument the man also pulled her hair and spat in her face. Prior to leaving the residence the man threw her phone to the ground causing it to break and threw an energy drink, narrowly missing her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation it was also learned that one week prior during the course of another argument the man damaged another phone that belonged to his girlfriend. On July 21st, 2014 the man was located by police at Marlborough Street address. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

Ottawa man arrested for impaired driving and possession of firearm

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Sunday, July 20, 2014                2:26am 

(Ottawa)— On July 19, 2014 at approximately 3am the Ottawa Police Service stopped a vehicle in the area of Bathgate Drive and Golf Place in the east end of Ottawa.  As a result, an Ottawa man was charged for impaired driving as well as being unlawfully in possession of a loaded semi automatic handgun.

Bens THERASSAN (27 years of age) faces numerous firearm and driving offences which include:

  • store firearm carelessly
  • posses firearms dangerous to public peace
  • possess firearm without holding a license
  • possess firearm knowing not holding a license
  • posses loaded firearm
  • posses firearm obtained by crime
  • impaired driving

THERASSAN was held in custody and will appear in court Sunday morning July 20, 2014.
