Fake Cop Steals From Elderly In Ottawa – Police Seek Assistance #OPS 28/12/14

OPS suspect dec 28 14CFN – The Ottawa Police Service is investigating at least six incidents that occurred between December 10, 2014 and December 23, 2014, where a man led his victims to believe he was a police officer.

The man approached elderly citizens and identified himself verbally as a police officer or said things that would lead them to believe he was one. He was not in uniform.

The man stole money from the victims and fled the area.

The incidents occurred on Rideau Street, between Cumberland St and Charlotte St.

The Central District Investigators are asking the public for any assistance in identifying the suspect (see attached photos). We are asking all citizens to report suspicious incidents where someone identifies themselves or poses as a police officer and is unable to provide proper police identification.

The suspect is described as:

-a white man

-50 to 60 years of age

-6 feet tall

-medium build

-white wavy hair

-often wears a “poor boy” hat

-well dressed

-speaks English
