THREATS, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, BREACH
Cornwall, ON- Matthew Sawyer, 28 of Cornwall was arrested on April 24th, 2015 and charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of weapons dangerous, three counts of threats to life and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on April 15th, 2015 the man attended the police station located at 330 Montreal Road and threatened the lives of two police officers all the while brandishing a knife. The male then left the station stating he was going to go kill a 47-year-old woman known to him. Police followed the man who refused to put the knife down at which point the Tazer was deployed to gain control of the man. Following an investigation the man was arrested and charged accordingly on April 24th, 2015 and remained in custody for a bail hearing.
ASSAULT, THREATS, MISCHIEF
Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 24th, 2015 and charged with assault, threats to life and mischief. It is alleged that during an argument with his 33-year-old common law wife on April 24th, 2015 the man pushed her, threatened her and damaged an interior door. Police were contacted and located the man a short distance away. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.
ASSAULT, THREATS
Cornwall, ON – A 42-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 24th, 2015 and charged with assault and threats to life. It is alleged that on April 24th, 2015 while in the area of Second Street and Glengarry Boulevard the man threatened and pushed a 39-year-old man who was with his ex-girlfriend. Police were contacted and located the man at his residence. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.
AGGRAVATED ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 24th, 2015 and charged with aggravated assault. It is alleged during an argument on April 24th, 2015 with his 60-year-old step-father the man struck his step-father in the head causing him to seek medical attention. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH
Cornwall, ON – Justin Rainey, 26 of Cornwall was arrested on April 25th, 2015 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation and undertaking for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on April 25th, 2015 the man attended a Ninth Street store and selected two SD cards making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. The man was stopped by the Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
THEFT UNDER $5000
Cornwall, ON – Terisa Ditchburn, 19 of Cornwall was arrested on April 26th, 2015 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged that on March 11th, 2015 the woman attended a Second Street East store and removed a bottle of alcohol making no attempt to pay for the item as she left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On April 26th, 2015 the woman was spotted by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service in the area of McLean Street. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on May 28th, 2015.
WARRANT
Cornwall, ON – Chase Benedict, 21 of no fixed address was arrested on April 26th, 2015 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that the man failed to attend court on February 20th, 2015 and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On April 26th, 2015 the man was located at a Lourdes Avenue Address by a member of the Cornwall Community Police service and taken into custody on the strength of the warrant. He was held for a bail hearing.

OPP INVESTIGATE SUSPICIOUS MALE
(EMBRUN, ON) –The Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating after an officer stopped a vehicle on Ste. Marie Road in Embrun, when the male passenger fled the scene on foot towards a nearby bush area. The police are investigating the possibility of a stolen vehicle.
At approximately 7:00 am, Russell County OPP Constable Turgeon observed a suspicious vehicle traveling southbound on Ste. Marie Road. The officer attempted a traffic stop when the vehicle pulled into a laneway on Ste. Marie Road and the male passenger fled the scene on foot. The female driver was arrest for possession of property obtained by crime.
The OPP is still searching for the male suspect. He is described as a white male, 5’7, wearing a black ball cap with red flames, a black Harley Davidson t-shirt and black track pants with white stripes along the sides.
DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION
(South Dundas) – On April 27, 2015 at approximately 7:38pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on County Road 4, South Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult male and his girlfriend resulted in the female being assaulted. Further information revealed past assault incidents occurring in the month of April. The accused was also in contravention of conditions imposed from a previous incident.
A 27-year-old male from North Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;
– Assault – Spousal (3 counts)
– Fail to Comply with a Probation Order (3 counts)
He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall today (28Apr15). The name of the accused is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
BREAK-INS
(North Glengarry) – On April 27, 2015, SD&G OPP received separate reports of break-ins at residences on County Road 43 and Campbell Drive, North Glengarry Township. Both incidents occurred during the day of April 27, 2015. A quantity of cash and jewelry were stolen.
Investigations continue.

In the week of April 20th to April 27th, Hawkesbury OPP officers responded to 200 occurrences. Three break and enter incidents were reported. Four incidents of assault and no incidents of theft were reported. In the last week, officers did not investigate any impaired driving related incidents. Out of these 200 occurrences, 19 concluded with accusations.
WARNING ABOUT DANGEROUS WATER CONDITIONS
(Hawkesbury, Ontario) – Due to changing weather conditions and continued thawing of lakes and rivers, there has been a change in both water levels and water flow of lakes and rivers in the surrounding areas.
The Hawkesbury OPP Detachment is advising residents to be aware of open and fast moving water.
Rivers are moving fast with higher than normal levels, strong currents on and beneath the water surface and the water is still very cold. There is also debris floating on and below the surface of the water.
Residents should be aware of the dangers present at the edges of rivers and open water as the ground is unstable.
The OPP strongly urge adults to watch their children if they are near any body of water and to take the time to properly educate their children of the dangers of being around water.
BREAK AND ENTER
(Alfred-Plantagenet, ON) The Hawkesbury OPP is investigating a break-in that was reported on Monday April 20th.
The investigation revealed that two men broke into a shed situated on Concession 7 in Alfred-Plantagenet at approximately 3 am on Sunday April 19th.
The thieves left the scene with two 16 inch Poulain chainsaws, one green and one orange.
The matter is still under investigation and police are looking for your help.

IMPAIRED DRIVER
(North Glengarry) – On April 24, 2015 at approximately 11:36am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a coach bus being driven erratically on Highway 417, North Glengarry Township. The vehicle was intercepted and investigation indicated that the adult male driver was under the influence of a drug.
Marc BERTHIAUME (52) of Prevost, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;
– Driving a Motor Vehicle while Impaired by a Drug
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on June 10, 2015.
DRUGS SEIZED/BREACH OF PROBATION
(North Glengarry) – On April 25, 2015 at approximately 10:00am, SD&G OPP officers intercepted a vehicle on Main Street in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected fentanyl patches from the adult female passenger. Further information revealed she was also in contravention of conditions imposed from a previous incident.
Chantal DIONNE (48) of North Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;
– Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
– Fail to Comply with Probation Order (5 counts)
She was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall today (27Apr15).
ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON
(South Dundas) – On April 26, 2015 at approximately 1:56am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of an assault at a residence on County road 31, South Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between two adult males resulted in one assaulting the other with a
bat. The accused also brandished a knife. The victim received non-life threatening injuries. During the altercation, the accused common-law spouse was also assaulted, she was not injured.
The 31-year-old male from South Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;
– Assault with a Weapon (2 counts)
– Assault Causing Bodily Harm
– Assault – Spousal
– Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose (2 counts)
– Utter Threats
– Forcible Confinement

ASSIST SURETE DU QUEBEC/SUSPECT APPREHENDED
(South Glengarry) – On April 26, 2015 at approximately 4:27pm, SD&G OPP officers, with the assistance of OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and OPP Canine members responded to a request for assistance from Sureté du Quebec (SQ) officers on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. Information indicated SQ officers were following a reported stolen vehicle which had entered the Province of Ontario on Highway 401 from Highway 20 (Quebec). The vehicle was located on County Road 2 in South Lancaster after being involved in a single vehicle collision. The lone male fled on foot but was apprehended without incident nearby by OPP officers.
Sebastien BELANGER (32) of Chateauguay, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;
– Fail to Remain at Scene of Collision (Highway Traffic Act)
– Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence (Highway Traffic Act)
The accused and involved vehicle were turned over to SQ officers for further investigation of criminal incidents occurring in Quebec.
