Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment

 

DRUGS SEIZED AT TRAFFIC STOPS

(South Glengarry) – On July 3, 2015 at approximately 1:04pm, Stormont, Dundas &Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers intercepted a pedestrian on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana from an adult male.  The male also attempted to flee from Police during the investigation.

John MACDONELL (22) of St Anne De Bellevue, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Under 30 Grams
– Obstruct Peace Officer
– Solicit a Ride (Highway Traffic Act)

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on August 05, 2015.

 

THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLES
(South Stormont) – Overnight (July 3-July 5, 2015), several (4) unattended vehicles were entered at properties on Bruce Street, South Stormont Township. Two vehicles sustained damage to the glass.  A Laptop, Electric Guitar, Amplifier and Power Tools (Drill & Driver) were removed from the vehicles.

Investigations continue.

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATION
(South Dundas) – On July 4, 2015 at approximately 4:36am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Caldwell Drive, South Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult female and his common-law spouse resulted in the female assaulting the male

The 26-year-old female from South Dundas, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault  x  2

She was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on July 21, 2015.
(North Glengarry) – On July 6, 2015 at approximately 10:58pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Anik Street, North Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between an adult male and his spouse resulted in the male assaulting the female.

The 62-year-old male from North Glengarry, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault  x 2

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on August 4, 2015.

The names of the accused persons in the above incidents are being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victims.
EXCESSIVE SPEEDS
(North Stormont) – On July 5, 2015, SD&G OPP officer conducted speed measuring enforcement on Highway 138, North Stormont Townships and intercepted the following vehicle for traveling at excessive speeds. The vehicle was impounded and the driver’s permit seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy.

– July 5, 2015 – 12:29pm (North Stormont); vehicle stopped travelling 135km/h (80km/h zone). Male driver (19) from Toronto, Ontario was charged accordingly.
STOLEN VEHICLES

(North Dundas) – On July 6, 2015 at approximately 1:54pm, SD&G OPP responded to a report of the theft of an ATV from a property on Main Street Morewood, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that overnight (July 5-6, 2015) a 2009 Black Arctic Cat   ATV was taken.

An investigation continues.

(South Glengarry) – On July 6, 2015 at approximately 2:52pm, SD&G OPP responded to a report of the theft of a Boat from a property on County Road 2, South Glengarry Township.  Investigation indicated that sometime over the weekend (July 3-6, 2015) a16 foot aluminum blue and silver boat was taken.

An Investigation continues.

IMPAIRED DRIVER CHARGED
(South Glengarry) – On July 5, 2015 at approximately 6:40pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a traffic complaint on County Road 18, South Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that the adult female driver was under the influence of alcohol.
Charlotte BRUYERE (49) of South Stormont, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle while Impaired by Alcohol
– Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with More than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood
– Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with an Open Container of Alcohol (Liquor Licence Act)
She was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on July 23, 2015.

Ontario Provincial Police News Portal [HAWKESBURY] This Week in Policing 2015-07-07

In the week of June 29th to July 6th 2015, Hawkesbury OPP officers responded to 284 occurrences. No break and enter incidents were reported. One incident of assault and eight incidents of theft were reported.  In the last week, officers investigated one impaired driving related incident.  Out of the 284 occurrences, 26 concluded with accusations.

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(Hawkesbury, ON) – In the evening of Monday June 29th, shortly after 9 pm, Hawkesbury OPP officers were dispatched to the Spence Avenue Mall parking lot in Hawkesbury to investigate a complaint of an impaired driver.

Two citizens had cornered a vehicle with their vehicles to prevent the driver from driving away.

The driver was seen driving around town in an erratic fashion by the concerned citizens.  The female driver displayed heavy signs of impairment.

Interaction with the driver gave the officer reason to believe that she had driven her motor vehicle with her abilities impaired by alcohol.

Consequently, the driver, Tina LEGAULT (36 yrs) of Vankleek Hill, was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following sections:

–    253(1)(a) Driving While Ability Impaired – motor vehicle (Alcohol and Drug)

–    253(1)(b) Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood.

–    249(1)(a) Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle

She was later released and scheduled to appear at court in July 22nd, 2015 in L’Orignal.

 

ATV FLEEING POLICE BREAKS DOWN

(Alfred-Plantagenet, ON) On Thursday June 25th, at approximately 5:30 pm, Constable Jonathan Bouchard was performing radar on Concession road #3 in Alfred-Plantagenet when he spotted two speeding off road vehicles travelling westbound.  The officer attempted to stop the 4 wheeler ATV which had 2 occupants and the dirt bike.  They failed to stop for the police officer.

The officer initially pursued both vehicles who had turned onto County Road 19, but let them go for safety reasons in regards to their speed.

The ATV sustained physical damage to its motor and subsequently stopped on the side of the road.   The officer who had disengaged but had continued driving down County Road 19 to ensure the safety of the surrounding motorists came across the stopped ATV.

The driver was arrested.  The ATV was seized by the officer and was towed away.

The driver, Jacob CHARBONNEAU (21 yrs) of Rollin Road in Clarence-Rockland was charged with the following offences:

Criminal Code of Canada

–       Section 249.1(1) Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer

Off-Road Vehicles Act

–    Section 2 – Unlawfully drive Off-Road Vehicle on Highway

–    Section 22(1)(a) – ORV – Speeding – more than 20 km/hr where limit is 50 km/hr

–    Section 24(4)  – ORV- Fail to drive at right edge of shoulder

–    Section 3(1) Drive off-road vehicle – no number plate

Highway Traffic Act

–    Section 216 – Fail to stop for Police [PURSUIT]

–    Section  33(1) – Driver fail to surrender licence

–    Section 7(5)(a) – Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

–    Section 75(3) – Excessive Fumes

–    Ontario Regulation 316 Section (4)(2) – Drive ATV with passenger on – Schedule B Highway

Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

–    Section 3(1) – Fail to surrender insurance card

The owner of the ATV, Jordan CHARBONNEAU (21 yrs) also of Rollin Rd, Clarence-Rockland

was also charged under the Off-Road Vehicles Act with section 15(2) Permit off-road vehicle to be driven – no insurance

Both are scheduled to appear at the L’Orignal Court on August 6th 2015.

Ontario Provincial Police News Portal [HAWKESBURY] ROBBERY IN VANKLEEK HILL 2015-07-06

 

(Vankleek Hill, ON)  Hawkesbury OPP officers were sent to the scene of a robbery at approximately 11 am  at the MacEwen Gas Station situated at 5819 Highway 34 in Vankleek Hill.

A 25 year old male entered the gas station, brandished an undisclosed weapon demanding the money from the cash register.

The male then drove away with an undisclosed amount of money, in a white Hyundai Sonata, crashing into a pick-up truck not far from the scene.

The thief still managed to leave with the damaged vehicle but had to leave the car behind not far from the scene of the collision.

Police arrived on scene rapidly.  As they were canvassing the area minutes after the robbery, the suspect was spotted running around trying to flee the neighbourhood.  A foot chase ensued where the man was arrested in a backyard of a Stephen street residence.

The stolen money was recovered.  No one was injured in the incident.

A 25 year old man, of no fixed address, was arrested.  He is being held for a bail court appearance scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at1pm in L’Orignal.

The matter is still under investigation.

THIS WEEK IN RUSSELL COUNTY NEWS  

(EMBRUN, ON) –In the week of June 22, 2015 to June 29, 2015, the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 275 occurrences.  Among those occurrences OPP responded to 19 collisions, 10 thefts, 11 domestics and 3 impaired drivers.

As a result of those occurrences, 26 people were charged with various offences.

Impaired Driver

(Nation Township) – On June 23, 2015 OPP Constables, Charlebois and Corbeil responded to a single motor vehicle collision on County Road 8, between Route 200 and Route 300.  The officers attended location and found a vehicle in the ditch.  OPP Constable Charlebois spoke to the driver and noticed signs of impairment by alcohol. The male was arrested and taken to the OPP Detachment where he provided breath samples into the Intoxilyzer.  The test results exceeded the legal limit.

Maxime JEROME, 31 years old from Clarence-Rockland will have to appear in L’Orignal court on July 8, 2015 to answer to the following charges:

CC 253(1)(a) Driving While Ability Impaired – motor vehicle

CC 253(1)(b) Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood

CDSA 4(1) Poss. of a Schedule II substance- Cannabis Marihuana – under 30grams

Impaired Driver

(Embrun, Ontario) – On June 27, 2015, OPP Constables, Dionne and Leblanc responded to a call for an impaired driver and they located the vehicle on Notre Dame Road.  After the Constables conducted a traffic stop, they observed the driver showing signs of impairment by alcohol.  The male was arrested and taken to the OPP Detachment where he provided breath samples into the Intoxylizer.  The test results exceeded the legal limit.

Brett MEREDITH, 28 years old from Gatineau will have to appear in L’Orignal Court on July 15, 2015 to answer to the following charges:

CC 253(1)(a) Driving While Ability Impaired – motor vehicle

CC 253 (2)(b) Driving with More Than 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in Blood

Break and Enter

(Nation Township) – On June 22, 2015 OPP Constables, Iordache and Benoit responded to a break and enter at Bytown Lumber on Calypso Road. At that location sometime during the night a suspect forced his way into the premise and stole money located inside the store.
