W 401 BLOCKED Near Brockville ON After Collision 8:35 AM MARCH 8, 2016

(LEEDS, ON.) –   Officers of the Leeds Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are continuing an investigation into a collision that happened on Highway 401 in Leeds County.
On the 7th of March 2016 at about 11:30 PM officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 401 westbound at the North Augusta Road exit. Investigation revealed that a westbound pickup truck with an attached trailer was passing a tractor trailer, who was merging onto the Highway when the pickup truck lost control and left the road. The driver of the pick-up truck was ejected from his vehicle.
A 39 year old man from Orillia, Ontario was transported to hospital in Kingston with life threatening injuries.
The westbound lanes of 401 between Brockville exits remain closed as members of the OPP’s Technical Traffic Collision Unit conduct their investigation.
