1st degree murder, kidnapping charges in homicide of Mohamed Najdi

 

(Ottawa)— The Ottawa Police Service Major Crime Investigators have laid charges against five men in the January 10th homicide of Mohamed Najdi.

Lual LUAL, 26, Ali ELENEZI, 18, Mohamed YUSUF, 25, Alaa ASIRI, 33, and Mohamed MOHAMED, 32, are all charged with first degree murder and kidnapping.  All five males are from Ottawa. 

Homicide Investigation on Claremont Avenue

(Ottawa) – The Major Crime Unit continues to investigate the shooting death of a 28-year-old man on Claremont Avenue last night.

At about 10:40 p.m. last evening, Ottawa Police Patrol officers responded to the address after 911 calls reporting a shooting. They found Mohamed Najdi suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus.

No arrests have been made in the shooting. Investigators believe the shooting was targeted and gang-related.

The investigation is ongoing and London Terrace is closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic between Hemlock Rd and Georgeton Private. The public is advised to avoid the area.

Shooting Incident

(Ottawa) — At 22:39 pm on January 10, 2016, the Ottawa Police Service responded to a shooting incident in the area of the 100 block of Claremont Dr., Ottawa. At this time, police have the scene under control and are confirming that they are investigating the first homicide of 2016. The Major Crime Unit has taken carriage of the investigation.
