Charges laid against local teacher in sex-related offences investigation
(Ottawa)— Today, the Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section (SACA) laid charges including 2 counts of Sexual Exploitation and 1 count of Sexual Assault against Timothy STANUTZ, 56 years old, of Ottawa.
He is scheduled to appear in court today.
The charges stem from incidents that occurred while the accused was employed by the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB).
SACA officers are continuing their investigation. They are concerned that there are other victims.
“The Ottawa Police will respect a victim’s wishes to pursue or not pursue the matter before the courts,” said Staff Sergeant Angela McDade, SACA. “The reporting of these incidents by victims to police is key for investigators to identify suspects and determine crime trends.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault/Child Abuse Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5944
It would be kind to update this, following his funeral. The charges were withdrawn.
