Student Charged After Breaking Officers Ankle & Threatening Principal in Cornwall JUNE 2, 2016

ASSAULT, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – A 46-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on June 1st, 2016 and charged with assault and breach of undertaking for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged during an argument in the early morning hours of May 31st, 2016 the man pushed and struck his 44-year-old girlfriend and police were contacted to investigate. On June 1st, 2016 the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

ASSAULT, ASSAULT CAUSE BODILY HARM, RESIST ARREST, THREATS, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on June 1st, 2016 and charged with three counts of threats, assault police – cause bodily harm, resist arrest, assault with intent to resist arrest and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. He was also charged with breach of recognizance for being in possession of a knife. It is alleged on June 1st, 2016 the youth threatened to harm a Vice Principal at a local school and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation police located the youth at his residence and were threatened by him. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle and during this time an officer suffered a broken ankle. The youth was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

WARRANT

 

Cornwall, ON – Paul Morningstar, 24 of London was arrested on June 1st, 2016 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man breached a court order by not notifying a change of address and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On June 1st, 2016 members of the Cornwall Community Police Service took the man in custody on the strength of the warrant in London, ON as the man was being held by London Police Service. He was transported to Cornwall and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

 

Cornwall, ON – Shane Bertrand, 38 of Cornwall was arrested on May 31st, 2016 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man breached his probation order and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On May 31st, 2016 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

 

CRIMINAL HARASSMENT

 

Cornwall, ON – A 27-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on May 31st, 2016 and charged with criminal harassment. It is alleged during the month of April and May, 2016 the man continued to call his ex-girlfriend despite having been warned by police not to. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On May 31st, 2016 the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – A 51-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on June 1st, 2016 and charged with breach of probation for being in the company of someone she has conditions not to associate with. It is alleged on June 1st, 2016 during an investigation into an unrelated matter the woman was found to be in breach of her conditions. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as the conditions stem from a domestic incident and would identify the victim in the matter.

BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on May 30th, 2016 and charged with breach of recognizance for being out past curfew and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on May 27th, 2016 police conducted a compliance check at the youths’ residence and found the youth to be in breach of his conditions. On May 30th, 2016 the youth was located by police, taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
