Quebec Man Nabbed Twice for DUI by OPP Brockville SEPT 16, 2016

(LEEDS, ON.) –   Officers of the Leeds Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are continuing investigations into an impaired driver stopped twice in just over a week.
On the 5TH of September 2016 at about 1:15 AM O.P.P officers stopped a vehicle on Highway 401 in Leeds and the Thousand Islands Township for a Highway Traffic Act offence. As a result of further investigation Vinayagalingam ABEYALINGAM, 34 years old of Quebec, faces a charge of impaired driving. His court appearance is scheduled for the 7th of October 2016 in Brockville.
On the 14th of September 2016 OPP received information regarding a suspected prohibited driver on Highway 401 in Leeds County. The driver was stopped eastbound in the Mallorytown area and as a result of an investigation was arrested for alcohol and driving offences.
Vinayagalingam ABEYALINGAM, 34 years old of Quebec is being held for bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice, Provincial Division – Brockville in relation to this occurrence, facing charges of Refusing to Provide a Breath Sample, Failing to Comply with a Recognizance (x2), and Driving While Disqualified. He is also facing a charge under the Highway Traffic Act for Driving while Under Suspension and Driving without Insurance.
While this is his second alcohol related offence in Leeds County, it’s his third offence in the last several weeks.

  1. Im glad they actually found a real DUI. The idiots at OPP Brockville pulled me over for being Sober. And the Officer said he smelled booze when there was none. No roadside test..just a WRONG assumption. These guys need to go for retraining and a course on how to treat people.

  2. Lyon you are lucky that you are not in Ottawa and the other major cities because police brutality is something else including in the US. These people suffer from PTSD and they have to take it out on someone and that is on the general public. The cops that we once knew to serve and protect are no longer. They serve the rich no good for nothings in society and we are just slaves to them.

  3. Agreed Jules. In my case the officer caused PTSD. Little to no respect now.
