Over 70MM Rain in Cornwall ON – Snow Over Night WEATHER ALERT Oct 22, 2016

Cornwall Ontario – Over 70mm of rain have fallen in the Cornwall Ontario area in the last several days.   One black out has occurred and temperatures hovering around zero over night should see us with nearly 1 inch of the white stuff before Sunday is over.

Temperatures will stay cold until Thursday when another dump of snow is expected.

Rainfall warning in effect for:

  • Cornwall – Lancaster
  • Maxville – Alexandria
  • Morrisburg – Long Sault
  • Winchester – Newington

Periods of rain, at times heavy, will end tonight with totals between 60 and 90 mm. Local amounts near 120 mm are possible, especially in communities near the St. Lawrence River.

Cornwall 70 in 36 hours up to 12 am EDT (volunteer observer).

This rainfall is due to a moisture laden low pressure system centered over Cape Cod this morning, moving to Southeastern Quebec by this evening.

If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

  1. For that report go stands in the corner. No snow will fall. I was watching The weather Network last night and the suggested snow won’t be anywhere near us. The snow is for the Algonquin Park regions. And if it does happen to do that it will very quickly disappear.
