MAN CHARGED IN MISCHIEF/ARSON INVESTIGATIONS

(South Stormont) – Following ongoing investigations into several mischief incidents at a property (Longue Sault Public School) in the Village of Long Sault, South Stormont Township, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have identified and charged an adult male. Investigation indicated that in September and October 2016, police responded to several reports of broken windows, graffiti and in one incident, a fire had been set at the above noted property.

On October 25, 2016, SD&G OPP Crime Unit and uniform members conducted a Criminal Code Search Warrant at a residence on Saunders Avenue, South Stormont Township and arrested the suspect. A quantity of suspected marihuana was also seized in the home.

William MCDONALD (22) of South Stormont Township is charged with;

– Mischief Under $5000 (5 counts)
– Break, Enter a Place – With Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence
– Arson – Damage to Property
– Possession of a Controlled Substance

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
