Nationals weekend roundup

CORNWALL ONTARIO — The expansion Cornwall Nationals are off to a 2-1 start, but General Manager Mitch Gagne is still looking for ways to improve his hockey club.

The team has claimed Jean-Christophe Houde off waivers from the Port Huron Prowlers.

Houde, 23, is a forward from Boisbriand, QC.

He suited up in two games with the Prowlers this season. Houde previously played with the University of Windsor in U Sports (formerly CIS).

Gagne has also come to terms with Kieran O’Neil, a 6-foot-1, 200 lb. centre. O’Neil recently suited up for Concordia University.

Cornwall is back in action Saturday night when it visits Berlin to take on the River Drivers in Federal Hockey League action. Game time is 7 p.m.

The Nationals are back on home ice Sunday, Nov. 20 when the Watertown Wolves visit the Civic Complex. The puck drops at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $13 for adults, $10 for seniors/students and $5 for children under the age of 12.

SERVING FOR HOSPICE

Meanwhile, the Nationals are organizing a Cornwall Hospice fundraiser.

Fans can join the team at Deke & Squeaks Sports Bar on Sunday, Nov. 20 as players serve the public from 5-7:30 p.m. All tips will be donated to Cornwall Hospice.

There will also be a silent auction, live auction and door prizes. Email us to reserve your table: mgagne@cornwallnationals.com.
