DRIVER OF VEHICLE IN FATAL COLLISION SUCCUMBS TO INJURIES (update)

(South Glengarry) – The driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal collision has died. Jeffery DOBSON (20) of South Stormont Township succumbed to his injuries in hospital today (December 1, 2016).

dobson-fbOn November 30, 2016 at approximately 11:30am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a multiple vehicle collision on County Road 2, South Glengarry Township (near Purcell Road).

Investigation has indicated that a 2010 Honda Civic, driven by DOBSON was eastbound, when for reasons under investigation he lost control and collided with a westbound 2015 Dodge van, driven by a 61-year-old female from South Glengarry Township. All three (3) occupants from the Honda were taken to hospital where a male passenger, Kyle QUESNEL (20) of Cornwall, Ontario was pronounced deceased while a 19-year-old female passenger from Cornwall, Ontario received life-threatening injuries. The driver of the van (lone occupant) was also taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A third vehicle (pick-up & trailer) was involved but made minor contact after the fact – no injuries resulted.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) are assisting SD&G OPP with the investigation. Speed and the use of seatbelts are being considered as factors. A section of County Road 2, between Gilmour Road and Purcell Road was closed to traffic and re-opened at approximately 11:00pm.

  1. Tragic on many levels. For the friends and family of the deceased and for the future deaths attributed to speed and driver error. Please slow down and arrive alive isn’t your live worth more than the foolish attempt to potentially shave a couple of minutes off your drive time?
