Ottawa man charged with Child Pornography Offences
(Ottawa) – In mid June 2016 and late August 2016, the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre (NCECC) forwarded the Ottawa Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) reports they had received from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipLine.
These reports indicated that an IP address in the Ottawa area was noted to have uploaded images of child sexual abuse via the Internet using a web based chat room known as “ChatStep”.
Subsequent production orders were obtained that revealed the offending IP address to be located in the 400 block of Montreal Road in the City of Ottawa.
On Thursday December 15th 2016 members of the Ottawa Police Service executed a search warrant at that address. Images of child sexual abuse were located on a computer inside the residence.
Michael LALONDE, 28 years old, of Ottawa, has been charged with:
* 3 counts of Possession of Child Pornography, contrary to s. 163.1(4) of the CCC
* 2 counts of Make Available Child Pornography, contrary to s. 163.1(3) of the CCC
He is scheduled to appear in court for a bail hearing this morning.
