(LEEDS, ON.) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police are continuing an investigation involving an unsafe commercial motor vehicle on Highway 401.
On the 16th of January 2017, at about 9:30 a.m., a diligent Ontario Provincial Police officer in Grenville County noticed an unsafe tractor trailer on Highway 401 in Augusta Township. He was able to stop the vehicle after observing a wheel coming loose.
A Leeds OPP officer who is CVSA (Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance) trained, attended and conducted further examination. As a result, the driver, a 47 year old Quebec resident has been charged with Operating an Unsafe Commercial Motor Vehicle. He is scheduled to appear at Brockville Provincial Offences Court on 1 March 2017 to answer to the charge.
Further to the investigation, the owner of the vehicle will be summonsed to Brockville Provincial Offences Court on the same date to answer to the charge of Permitting Operation of an Unsafe Commercial Motor Vehicle.
The investigation continues.
