Back-to-back home games for Nationals

CORNWALL ONTARIO – The Nationals will look to gain ground in the Federal Hockey League standings this weekend with a pair of home-ice contests.

Cornwall hosts the Port Huron Prowlers on Saturday night at Ed Lumley Arena in the Civic Complex. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday’s game will be dedicated to “Warm Up Cornwall”. Fans are asked to bring a new or gently used warm item (tuques, scarves, mittens, etc.) in a plastic bag and after the first Nationals goal, the donations can be thrown onto the ice.

On Sunday afternoon, the Berlin River Drivers visit the Civic Complex. FHL action begins at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $13 for adults, $10 for seniors/students and $5 for children ages 12 and under.

PROMOTION: Fans can currently purchase season tickets for the remainder of the regular season for only $115. Nationals players will personally deliver the tickets to your home. Season ticket holders will also receive free popcorn to each game.

Nationals ship Dolgy to Wolves

CORNWALL — The Nationals shook things up on Monday night with a blockbuster trade.

General manager Basem Awwad shipped Jason Dolgy’s rights to the Watertown Wolves in exchange for defenceman Stanislav Vlasov and former Nationals forward Lou Dickenson.

Vlasov is a tough, rugged defenceman that will help secure our blue line,” said Awwad.

The 27-year-old defenceman from Russia won the Commissioner’s Cup title in 2015 with the Wolves.

Dickenson suited up in 14 games for the Nationals earlier this season. The flashy forward had 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points.

Unfortunately, Dolgy was no longer a fit in Cornwall.
