Ark Building Time as Rains to Pummel Cornwall Ontario APRIL 6, 2017

CORNWALL ONTARIO – Nearly 50mm of rain is expected to hit the River City before Friday morning.    It will be steady and a FLOOD ALERT is expected.

Up to 10mm more rain is expected Friday with temperatures between zero and 5c.   The Weekend should clear up and temperatures will jump to the 20c mark early next week.

Rainfall warning in effect for:

  • Cornwall – Lancaster
  • Maxville – Alexandria
  • Morrisburg – Long Sault
  • Winchester – Newington

Rain, heavy at times is expected. The ground, already near saturation, has little ability to absorb further rainfall.

Rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 mm late tonight through Thursday night.

Rain is expected to begin later tonight and persist through the day Thursday. The rain is forecast to mix with or change to snow Thursday night and come to an end late Friday.

Rainfall warnings are issued for amounts of 25 mm or more in 24 hours or less when the ground is saturated or frozen. For the latest information concerning the potential for spring flooding in your area, please consult the website of your local Conservation Authority or the website of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Don’t approach washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
