Toronto Police Charge Ivan Konstantinovskiy 12 Counts incl. Assault Officer After Chase MAY 13, 2017

Man, 23, facing 12 charges including two counts of Assault Peace Officer and Threaten to use Weapon

On Thursday, May 11, 2017, a man was arrested following an investigation by members of TPS Hold Up.

It is alleged that:

– on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at approximately 3:10 p.m., a man was observed on the west side of Warden Avenue

– at this time, the man was observed by members of Hold Up running eastbound across Warden Avenue toward the parking area of 787 Warden Avenue

– the man ran across five lanes of live traffic, causing several vehicles, including that being driven by the officers, to come to a sudden stop

– he was observed by the officers carrying a medium-size, black duffel bag and looking behind him while running forward

– officers turned their vehicle around and approached the man who was at the rear of the parking area

– they remained in their vehicle and verbally identified themselves as police officers to the man

– upon hearing the word “police,” the man dropped the duffel bag to the ground and ran toward the street in a westbound direction

– officers pursued the man on foot, while the man changed directions several times in an effort to escape police but was eventually cornered in the area of a nearby truck port

– the man turned to face the officers and produced a six-inch Benchmark knife that opened with the jerking motion of one hand

– the man held the opened knife in his right hand and pointed it in the direction of the officers

– officers continued a dialogue with the man for several minutes

– he eventually dropped the knife to the ground which allowed officers to make the arrest

– officers located the black duffel bag nearby

– it contained several tools and hardware items stolen from Lowe’s Home Improvement at 800 Warden Avenue

Ivan Konstantinovskiy, 23, of Thornhill, was arrested and charged with:

1) Theft Under
2) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under
3) two counts of Assault Peace Officer and Threaten to use Weapon
4) three counts of Breach of Probation
5) Carry Concealed Weapon
6) Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace
7) two counts of Possess Weapon While Prohibited
8) Possess Weapon While Prohibited

He appeared in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Friday, May 12, 2017, 10 a.m.
