Calls for Service

Kingston Police had 132 calls for service during the 24 hour period starting from 5:00 a.m. on September 13, 2017. Of these, 89 calls occurred in the city central area, 20 in the west end, 4 in the east end, and 3 north of Highway 401. Some of these included:

  • 7 domestic calls
  • 5 assault calls
  • 4 harassment calls
  • 2 fight/disturbance calls
  • 1 custody dispute call
  • 3 alarm calls
  • 1 neighbour dispute call
  • 6 noise complaints
  • 3 missing person calls
  • 2 Mental Health Act calls
  • 1 medical assist call
  • 8 assist citizen calls
  • 1 break and enter call
  • 7 theft calls
  • 4 mischief calls
  • 1 fraud call
  • 7 motor vehicle collisions
  • 7 driving complaints
  • 12 suspicious activity calls
  • 2 drug calls

There were 8 individuals arrested within the last 24 hours including 6 men and 2 woman, between 28 and 54 years of age, for the following: assault, assault with a weapon, utter threats to cause death, forcible confinement, utter threats to cause bodily harm, possession of a weapon, harassment by repeated communication, possession of a controlled drug, public intoxication, and breach probation. Two persons were arrested on outstanding warrants.

Police Find Man Sitting on Porch after He Threatened Victim with a Knife

A 32-year-old local man has been arrested after he brandished a knife and threatened to stab a woman.

On September 13, 2017 at approximately 4:15 p.m. police responded to Patrick Street where the accused was found sitting on a porch. Police spoke with the parties involved and learned the victim had confronted the accused who was harassing her sister. The accused then brandished a black switch blade knife and threatened to stab the victim while making a stabbing motion. Other parties walked the victim away and police were called.

The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with utter threats to cause bodily harm, possession of a weapon.

Woman Arrested for Numerous Domestic Violence Incidents

A 39-year-old local woman has been arrested when police learn of multiple domestic violence incidents involving assaults, assaults with a weapon, forcible confinement, and threats.

On September 13, 2017 at approximately 12:00 p.m. the accused arrived at her west end residence. The accused was angry with the victim for not returning her messages. The victim attempted to leave and the accused blocked his way demanding he turn over his phone. When the victim gave the accused his phone she let him leave, but ended up following him down the street while yelling and swearing for him to unlock the phone. The accused then slapped the victim several time in the head and face and threatened to pick up the children from school and kill them.

The victim was able to get away and attend police headquarters. An investigation revealed over two years of domestic violence including an incident on September 11, 2017 were the accused chased the victim with a butcher knife and struck him with a piece of wood in front of his child.

At approximately 8:45 p.m. the accused was located at the residence and arrested. The accused was transported to police headquarters where she was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with two counts of assault, three counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of utter threats to cause death, and forcible confinement.

Man Arrested after Refusing to Leave his Ex Alone

A 37-year-old local man has been arrested after he refused to stop harassing his ex.

On September 12, 2017 police began investigating the accused for harassing the victim through unwanted communication. Officers learned the victim had been trying to end the relationship since July 2017. The victim had made it clear she wanted to be left alone, but the accused repeatedly called and messaged her. The accused told the victim he knew where she was, who she was talking with and threatened to cause problems for her at work.

On September 6, 2017 the accused got a hold of the victim’s phone. They argued about who she had been talking to and the accused threatened to kill her friend.

On September 13, 2017 at approximately 9:25 a.m. the accused turned himself in at police headquarters. The accused was held to attend a bail hearing.

The accused was charged with harassment by repeated communication and utter threats to cause death.
