Calls for Service

Kingston Police had 117 calls for service during the 24 hour period starting from 5:00 a.m. on November 1, 2017. Of these, 73 calls occurred in the city central area, 31 in the west end, and 6 in the east end. Some of these included:

  • 4 domestic calls
  • 1 sexual assault
  • 1 harassment call
  • 4 fight/disturbance calls
  • 7 undesirable calls
  • 1 customer trouble calls
  • 8 alarm calls
  • 1 neighbour dispute call
  • 1 noise complaint
  • 1 missing person call
  • 2 Mental Health Act calls
  • 2 medical assist calls
  • 10 assist citizen calls
  • 2 break and enter calls
  • 8 theft calls
  • 4 shoplifting calls
  • 2 mischief calls
  • 9 motor vehicle collisions
  • 1 parking/vehicle complaints
  • 5 driving complaints
  • 11 suspicious activity calls
  • 1 trespass/prowler call

There were 6 individuals men arrested within the last 24 hours, between 18 and 58 years of age, for the following: assault, utter threats, forcible confinement, public intoxication, and breach probation.

Man Charged for Domestic Abuse Incidents when he was a Youth

An 18-year-old local man has is facing multiple charges of domestic abuse committed while he and the victim were youths.

On October 30, 2017 police began an investigation into information of domestic abuse and assault over a year long period. The investigation revealed that since the accused and victim began dating in the fall of 2016 the accused shoved and threatened the victim on numerous occasions. In June 2017 while on holiday with friends the accused shoved the victim who was several months pregnant. A friend caught the victim before she fell to the ground. After the child was born the violence stopped for a short period but resumed and the victim ended the relationship.

On November 1, 2017 the accused turned himself in at police headquarters. He was held to attend a bail hearing.

The accused was charged with three counts of assault, utter threats, harassment, and breach of probation.

Victim Endures 30 Hours of Abuse While Being Held Captive

A 35-year-old local man was arrested after assaulting, threatening and holding his girlfriend captive for 30 hours.

In early October 2017 the accused threatened and assaulted the victim during an argument, the incident was not reported at that time.

On October 31, 2017 at approximately 5:00 p.m. the accused attended the victim’s residence. The accused became angry with the victim when he learned she had plans to go on a trip with a female friend. The accused then attacked the victim and for the next 30 hours through violence and threats he controlled and confined her every move.

On November 1, 2017 in the evening the victim managed to send photos of her injuries to family out of province. At approximately 11:30 p.m. the family contacted police and officers responded to the residence to find a shaking, fearful victim.

The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with assault, utter threats, and forcible confinement.
