Calls for Service

Kingston Police had 118 calls for service during the 24 hour period starting from 5:00 a.m. on December 20, 2017. Of these, 69 calls occurred in the city central area, 31 in the west end, 6 in the east end, and 2 north of Highway 401. Some of these included:

  • 7 domestic calls
  • 3 assault calls
  • 2 sexual assaults
  • 4 harassment calls
  • 4 fight/disturbance calls
  • 7 undesirable calls
  • 4 alarm calls
  • 1 neighbour dispute call
  • 2 noise complaints
  • 1 trouble with kids call
  • 3 missing person calls
  • 5 Mental Health Act calls
  • 4 medical assist calls
  • 5 assist citizen calls
  • 8 theft calls
  • 2 mischief calls
  • 2 fraud calls
  • 8 motor vehicle collisions
  • 3 parking/vehicle complaints
  • 6 driving complaints
  • 7 suspicious activity calls
  • 1 drug call

There were 8 individuals arrested within the last 24 hours including 6 men and 2 women, between 16 and 71 years of age, for the following: assault, assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, possession of a controlled substance, public intoxication, and breach probation. Two persons were arrested on warrants.

Man Facing Charges for Multiple Incidents of Domestic Violence

A 28-year-old local man is facing multiple domestic violence charges after the victim was brought to the hospital with injures.

On December 20, 2017 at approximately 11:00 p.m. the accused and victim were arguing in their residence. When victim told the accused to leave he grabbed her by the neck, lifted her up and then threw her to the ground. The accused then left the residence. The victim suffered injuries that required her to crawl to a phone to call for help. The victim was taken to the hospital at which time police were contacted.

An investigation revealed previous domestic violence incidents that had not been reported to police. In June and July of 2017 the accused had violently assaulted the victim and then physically prevented her from leaving.

On December 21, 2017 the accused turned himself in at police headquarters. The accused was held to attend a bail hearing.

The accused was charged with four counts of assault, and two counts of forcible confinement,

Woman Thrown into Christmas tree, Man Attacked with a Knife

A 35-year-old woman of no fixed address has been arrested after she stabbed the resident of home she was visiting.

On December 20, 2017 at approximately 10:00 a.m. the accused was visiting an east end residence. During an argument with the female resident the accused suddenly became aggressive and threw her into the Christmas tree. The accused then turned on the male resident and attacked him with a knife. The male victim suffered a minor cut to his hand, but was able to gain control of the accused until she calmed down.

Police were called and on arrival they found the accused locked out of the apartment, banging on the door and yelling at the people inside to let her in.

The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where she was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with assault with a weapon, and breach probation.
