Calls for Service

Kingston Police had 466 calls for service over the weekend and Christmas Holidays from December 22-26, 2017. Of these, 286 calls occurred in the city central area, 99 in the west end, 17 in the east end, and 13 north of Highway 401. Some of these included:

  • 9 medical assist calls
  • 47 assist citizen calls
  • 6 break and enter calls
  • 22 theft calls
  • 5 shoplifting calls
  • 1 theft of vehicle call
  • 5 mischief calls
  • 3 fraud calls
  • 39 motor vehicle collisions
  • 1 impaired driving call
  • 10 parking/vehicle complaints
  • 23 driving complaints
  • 7 traffic concerns
  • 31 suspicious activity calls

  • 2 drug calls

There were 12 individuals arrested over the weekend and Christmas Holidays from December 22-26, 2017, including 9 men and 3 women, between 15 and 54 years of age, for the following: theft, mischief, possession of break-in tools, assault cause bodily harm, assault, possession of a controlled substance, possession of stolen property, fraud, use stolen credit card, public intoxication, breach undertaking, breach recognizance, and breach probation. Three persons were arrested on warrants.

Two Men Arrested for Breaking into Vehicles Christmas Morning

A 39-year-old man and 29-year-old man, both of no fixed address, were caught shortly after breaking into vehicles in a downtown parking lot.

On December 25, 2017 at approximately 3:45 a.m. police responded to a parking lot on Brock Street for a report of two men breaking into vehicles. The suspects had fled prior to police arrival and a search of the garage revealed two vehicles had been broken into. Witnesses provided descriptions and officers began searching the area.

At approximately 4:15 a.m. officers located two men matching the description a couple blocks away. Both men were arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

During a search of the 39-year-old man, officers founds tools commonly used for break and enter.

Both men were charged jointly with theft, and two counts of mischief. The 39-year-old man was additionally charged with possession of break-in tools, and breach probation.



Man Arrested After Family Visit Turns Violent

A 33-year-old local man was arrested after attacking and throwing his ex-girlfriend out of his apartment during family visit.

On the morning of December 24, 2017 the victim was visiting the accused and family at his mid-town apartment. An argument over cigarettes escalated and the accused demanded the victim leave. As the victim was preparing to go, the argument turned violent. The accused grabbed the victim by her hair and pulled her into the hallway. The accused was seen punching and kicking the victim by other tenants who called police. The accused retreated into his apartment and the victim left the building.

Police responded and located the accused inside his apartment. The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

During a search of the accused, officers located a small quantity of suspected cocaine.

The accused was charged with assault, and possession of a controlled substance.

Multiple Purchases made with Credit Cards Stolen from Vehicle

A 34-year-old local woman has been located and arrested after stealing credit cards from a vehicle and making multiple purchases.

On November 18, 2017 at approximately 8:45 a.m. the complainant reported two credit cards stolen from his vehicle that was parked at a mid-town residence. An investigation revealed that before the theft was discovered, the stolen cards had been used to make purchases at three different stores. A fourth attempt to use the cards failed when they were declined.

Officers reviewed video surveillance and the accused was identified. Her whereabouts were unknown and a warrant was applied for.

On December 26, 2017 the accused was located passed out in a vehicle parked in a lot off Division Street. The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where she was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with theft possession of stolen property, three counts of fraud, three counts of use stolen credit card, breach undertaking, and breach recognizance.

Police wish to remind residents to never leave valuables in your vehicle and always lock up when you leave.
