Orleans man charged with child pornography offences
(Ottawa) – In mid-December 2017, a member of the Peel Regional Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) notified Ottawa ICE of an undercover luring operation identifying an Ottawa man communicating with an undercover police officer posing as a child and an adult.
During the police investigation, several communications were exchanged where the man engaged in conversations requesting to have sexual relations and transmitted images of adult and child pornography.
On January 19, 2018, the man was arrested at an Orleans area hotel, where the arrangement to meet with the child and her mother was to take place.
A search warrant was subsequently executed at his residence where a preliminary analysis of his digital devices revealed an extensive collection of images and videos of child pornography,
Paul MONTROY, 52 years old, of Ottawa was charged with:
* 1 x possession of child pornography s.163.1 (4)
* 1 x distribution of child pornography s. 163.1 (3)
* 2 x arrangement sexual offence against a child under 18 s. 172.2(1)(a)
* 3 x arrangement sexual offence against a child under 16 s. 172.2(1)(b)
* 3 x luring a child under 16 s. 172.1(1)(b)
* 2 x luring a child under 18 s. 172.1(1)(a)
* 1 x make sexually explicit material available to a child s. 171.1(1)(b)
Paul MONTROY has a history of replying to classified ads in the Ottawa area seeking tutors for children.
Additional charges may be laid pending the full examination of digital devices.
He will appear at show cause court on Saturday, January 20th, 2018.
