Calls for Service

Kingston Police had 360 calls for service over the weekend of March 23-25, 2018. Of these, 276 calls occurred in the city central area, 57 in the west end, 11 in the east end, and 4 north of Highway 401. Some of these included:

There were 15 individuals arrested over the weekend of March 23-25, 2018 including 12 men and 3 women, between 13 and 55 years of age, for the following: assault, motor vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, fraud, mischief, public intoxication, breach of peace, breach undertaking, breach recognizance, and breach probation. Three persons were arrested on warrants.

Man Assaults Woman 3 Hours after She Declines to Dance with Him

A 19-year-old local man has been charged after he punched the victim 3 hours after she declined to dance with him.

On March 24, 2018 at approximately 10:00 p.m. the accused was at a Princess Street bar in the downtown area. When the victim and her group of friends rejected the accused attempt to dance with them, he pushed two females and wandered off. At approximately 1:00 a.m. the victim and her friends were leaving the bar when the accused began calling them names and swinging his arms. The accused then punched the victim in her eye, knocking her to the ground.

Officers on patrol in the area were approached by the bar manager who reported the assault and pointed out the accused. The victim suffered injuries requiring medical attention and paramedics were called to the scene.

The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was later released with a future court date.

The accused was charged with assault.

Report of People Locked in Closet Ends in Arrest for Auto Theft

An 18-year-old Caledon man was arrested for auto theft after officers respond to a report of persons locked in a closet.

On March 24, 2018 at approximately 4:30 a.m. officers responded to Princess Street hotel in the west end of the City. Information received was that two persons were locked in a closet. The accused was found in an upstairs hallway standing near the closet in question. When officers opened the closet they found a male and female inside. The couple were uninjured and claimed they were hiding from another male after a dispute and did not know the accused. The accused, however was arrested for trespassing and during a search officers found keys to a vehicle in the parking lot that was blocking the laneway. When officers conducted a licence plate check on the vehicle it was found to be reported stolen with the keys in it, by Caledon OPP.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with motor vehicle theft, and possession of stolen property.

Out of Control Youth Facing Multiple Charges

A 13-year-old local youth is facing multiple charges after he violently attacked three people at local group home.

On March 25, 2018 at approximately 6:30 p.m. the accused was at a local group home where he currently resides. The accused was in an agitated state and became aggressive with a staff. Over the next hour the accused assaulted three staff members as they attempted to de-escalate his volatile behaviour. During the outburst, the accused spit on staff members, punched them in the body, head and face, and bit one victim in the hand.

At approximately 8:00 p.m. police were called to the residence and the assaults were reported. The accused was belligerent with officers and began calling staff members and officers derogatory names.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with three counts of assault, and three counts of breach probation.
