SD&G OPP NEWS
(STORMONT DUNDAS & GLENGARRY, ON) – The SD&G Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating several incidents after responding to 186 calls for service from Friday July 20, 2018 to Monday July 23, 2018.
ASSAULT WITH WEAPON
(NORTH GLENGARRY,ON) – On July 20, 2018 at approximately 9:02pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a disturbance in North Glengarry Township.
Investigation indicated that an altercation occurred between a male and an adult female (girlfriend). The accused male struck the victim with a weapon. The accused male also threatened the victim.
A 24-year-old male of North Glengarry, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Assault with a weapon
– Uttering Threats
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall court on August 21, 2018.
IMPAIRED DRIVER
(NORTH STORMONT,ON) – On July 21, 2018 at approximately 12:43am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 138 in North Stormont Township. The investigation revealed that the adult female driver was under the influence of alcohol.
Viktoria MARICH (28) of Laval, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;
– Drive a Motor Vehicle while Impaired
– Drive a Motor Vehicle with over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood
She was released and is scheduled to appear in Cornwall Court August 14, 2018.
ASSAULT
(SOUTH STORMONT,ON) – On July 21, 2018 at approximately 11:27pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a disturbance in South Stormont Township.
Investigation indicated that an altercation occurred between a male and an adult female (girlfriend). The accused male struck the victim and had caused damaged to the victim’s property.
A 26-year-old male of South Stormont, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Assault
– Mischief ( 2 counts)
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall court on August 7, 2018.
ASSAULT
(SOUTH GLENGARRY,ON) – On July 22, 2018 at approximately 4:19pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a disturbance in South Glengarry Township.
Investigation indicated that an altercation occurred between a male and an adult female (girlfriend). The accused male struck the victim with a weapon.
A 30-year-old male of North Glengarry, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Assault
– Assault with a weapon
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall court on August 7, 2018.
DRIVER OF A STOLEN VEHICLE ARRESTED
(SOUTH STORMONT,ON) – On July 22, 2018 at approximately 8:32pm SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a stolen motor vehicle on Post Road, South Stormont Township. The investigation revealed that a Ford Fusion had been taken from the residence without the owner’s consent. Shortly thereafter Police located the vehicle and the driver.
James QUINN (34) Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Take Motor vehicle without consent
– fail to comply with Probation order
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on August 14, 2018.
EXCESSIVE SPEEDS
(SD&G) – On July 20-22, 2018 Ontario Provincial Police officers conducted speed measuring enforcement in SD&G and intercepted the following vehicles for traveling at excessive speeds. The vehicles were impounded and the driver’s permits seized for seven (7) days in accordance to policy.
– July 20, 2018 – 8:28pm (South Dundas); vehicle stopped traveling 160km/h (100km/h zone)(Highway 401). Female driver (61) from Edmonton, Alberta was charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act).
– July 21, 2018 – 5:50pm (South Dundas); vehicle stopped traveling 165km/h (100km/h zone)(Highway 401). Male driver (26) from Richmond Hill, Ontario was charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act).
– July 22, 2018 – 8:27pm (South Dundas); vehicle stopped traveling 152km/h (100km/h zone)(Highway 401). Male driver (20) from Ontario was charged with Stunt Driving (Highway Traffic Act).
