Four teens charged with Aggravated Assault following Orleans school assault
(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police have identified and charged four teens in relation to an assault of a 15 year old male at an Orleans school which occurred on November 8, 2018 on Charlemagne Blvd at approx. 11:00am. Police responded to the school at the time of the incident.
A crowd of students had gathered and recorded a fight, which was then shared by several people on social media.
A total of 4 teens have been charged with Aggravated Assault since the incident, following the investigation by Ottawa Police School Resource Officer.
Charged are:
- Patrick MBAYA, 18 years old, of Ottawa;
- Shirlvin DESIR(m), 18 years old, of Ottawa;
- a 17 year old male, of Ottawa;
- a second 17 year old male, also of Ottawa.
MBAYA is scheduled to appear in court on January 16, 2019; DESIR is scheduled to appear in court on January 15, 2019; and the two minors are scheduled to appear in court on January 15 2019.
“The Ottawa Police consider all acts of violence to be serious matters,” said Acting Staff Sgt. Steve Boucher, with the School Resource Officers Section. “We don’t consider the online posting of these fights and assaults to be appropriate. We encourage anyone witnessing such events to phone police immediately.”
