Calls for Service

Kingston Police had 344 calls for service over the weekend of November 23-35, 2018. Of these, 253 calls occurred in the city central area, 54 in the west end, 18 in the east end, and 8 north of Highway 401. Some of these included:

There were 14 individuals arrested over the weekend of November 23-25, 2018 including 13 men and 1 woman, between 20 and 65 years of age, for the following: two counts of theft, assault with intent to resist arrest, harassment by threatening conduct, sexual assault, robbery, break and enter, four counts of mischief, possession of break-in tools, possession of a weapon, assault with a weapon, unlawfully in a dwelling, cause disturbance, obstruct justice, four persons for breach of peace, breach undertaking, two counts of breach recognizance, and breach probation.

Females Find Nude Man in Their Rental Home

On November 23, 2018 at approximately 4:00 p.m. three females attended a local residence they had rented through an online service. Upon their arrival the females observed a male inside whom they assumed was the previous renter. The females left and when they returned a couple hours later they observed the male still inside and now nude. As the females left, the male came to door and stood fully nude in the doorway. The females contacted the home owner who confirmed no one else was supposed to be in the home. Police were called and upon arrival officers discovered the male still inside the home, still nude, and with no reasonable explanation for being in the home.

The accused was arrested and dressed before being transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

A 36-year-old local man is charged with unlawfully in a dwelling.

Shoplifter Facing Multiple Charges after Violent Attack on Store Security

On November 25, 2018 at approximately 9:15 p.m. the accused attended a store in the 400 block of Princess Street. The accused selected an item worth approximately $180, ripped off the tags and then concealed it under his jacket. The accused went past the checkout, but was apprehended by a store security officer just outside. The accused managed to break free, but then became violent and attempted to hit, kick and grab genitals. The two struggle and the accused was held on the ground until police arrived.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

A 59-year-old local man is charged with theft, assault with intent to resist arrest, and breach probation.

Man Charged in Sexual Assault on Fellow Retirement Home Resident

In the early morning hours of November 25, 2018 the accused entered the victim’s room at a local retirement facility, where both parties reside. The accused sexually assaulted the elderly victim. Before leaving the victim’s room the accused was caught by a nursing staff member.

Police were called to the home and the accused was arrested. The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was later released on conditions with a future court date.

A 65-year-old local man is charged with sexual assault.

Kingston Police want to let victims of sexual assault know that it is their choice to disclose the incident to police. If you have been sexually assaulted or abused and are uncertain what to do, please attend the hospital and see the caring and compassionate staff at the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence clinic (SADV). The staff can help you with counselling and coping strategies in addition to providing testing for sexually transmitted diseases and providing access to HIV medication. If you are willing the staff will also complete the sexual assault evidence kit. Evidence can be collected up to twelve days following a sexual assault. Depending on the circumstances it may be possible for DNA evidence to be obtained from clothing after it has been washed. Your confidentiality is guaranteed and police will only be contacted by the hospital if you request it at the time. The SADV clinic will store the contents of the kit for a preliminary period of 6 months which offers a victim time to gather information on the process and decide on how they want to proceed.

Man Fleeing B&E Pulls Knife on Employee who catches Him

On November 25, 2018 at approximately 9:30 a.m. police responded to a business in the 1100 block of John Counter Boulevard for a report of a male fighting another male with a knife. On arrival officers discovered an employee of the business fighting with the accused who had broken into the compound.

The accused was handcuffed and officers learned that when the employee stopped the accused for breaking into the compound and a vehicle, the accused pulled a knife. During a struggle the accused cut the victims jacket and smashed his cellphone.

Officers found the accused had drilled holes in a trailer, and two trucks, and had cut the lock off one. During a search of the accused and his backpack, officers found rubber gloves, a balaclava, a drill, a grinder, and a pry bar.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing.

A 32-year-old local man is charged with robbery, break and enter, four counts of mischief, possession of break-in tools, possession of a weapon, and assault with a weapon.

Neighbour Dispute Lasting Over 2 Years Ends in Arrest and Charges

On November 25, 2018 police attended a west end home in regards to an on-going neighbour dispute. The complainant reported a history of harassment dating back to April 2016 when she informed the accused he was erecting a fence on her side of the property. The harassment included the accused yelling and swearing at the complainant and her daughter, throwing garbage over the fence, pulling out ground stakes, and pointing speakers at her home while blaring Christmas music in 2017 and again this year.

The officer could clearly hear the music from inside the complainant’s home and attended the accused’s residence to speak with him. The accused came to the door yelling and swearing at the officer to get off his property and then threatened to kill the complainant.

The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was later released on conditions with a future court date.

A 65-year-old local man is charged with harassment by threatening conduct.
