#CCPS Cornwall Police Blotter for February 28, 2019

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Christopher Benedict, 38, of Akwesasne was arrested on February 27th, 2019 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man was in possession of a stolen vehicle and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On February 27th, 2019, the man was stopped at the Port of Entry and police were contacted. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on March 28th, 2019.

THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Joel Sarault, 21, of Cornwall was arrested on February 27th, 2019 and charged with theft under $5000, as well as breach of undertaking and probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on February 27th, 2019, the man attended a Water Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the item as he left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and released to appear in court on March 28th, 2019.

DANGEROUS OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE

Cornwall, ON – Mathieu Mainville, 20, of Cornwall was arrested on February 27th, 2019 and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. It is alleged the man was operating a motorcycle in a dangerous manner in the area of Nick Kaneb Drive and Marleau Avenue and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on March 28th, 2019.
