Hot Tub Scammers Charged After Fleeing Police in Cornwall Ontario #CPS 061219

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on June 11th, 2019 and charged with assault, as well as assault with a weapon. It is alleged during an argument with her common-law-husband, the woman assaulted him using a frying pan. Police were contacted and took the woman into custody. She was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 25th, 2019. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

FRAUD, THEFT, THREATS, POSSESSION OF PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, OBSTRUCT, FLIGHT FROM POLICE, DANGEROUS OPERATION, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Christopher Motard, 40, and Rachelle Seguin, 30, both of Cornwall, were arrested on June 11th, 2019 and charged as follows:

Christopher Motard:
• Fraud under $5000 x 3
• Theft under $5000
• Threats
• Possession of property obtained by crime x 2
• Breach of recognizance x 2 (for possessing a cheque that did not belong to him)
• Breach of probation x 2 (for failing to keep the peace)
• Flight from police
• Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
• Assault with a weapon
• Obstruct

Rachelle Seguin:
• Flight from police
• Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
• Assault with a weapon
• Obstruct

It is alleged on April 25th, 2019, the man advertised and accepted payment for a hot tub that was not for sale and further removed several household appliances from a residence that did not belong to him. It is also alleged on June 6th and 9th, the man attended a financial institution and attempted to deposit stolen cheques. An argument ensued with an employee and the man threatened to kill her. On June 11th, 2019, police located Christopher Motard and Rachelle Seguin in a vehicle in the area of Adams Avenue. Upon seeing police, the woman locked the vehicle from the inside, preventing police from speaking with the man in the vehicle. Both individuals then fled in the vehicle, operating it in a dangerous manner, nearly striking police officers with the vehicle. A pursuit ensued and police located the man and woman shortly thereafter. They were both taken into custody, charged accordingly, and held for a bail hearing.

BREAK & ENTER X 2, THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Laurel Kubecki, 35, of Cornwall was arrested on June 12th, 2019 and charged with two counts of break and enter, theft under $5000, as well as breach of recognizance and undertaking for failing to notify a change of address. It is alleged on June 2nd, the woman attended a Second Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as she left the store. It is further alleged during the early morning hours on June 5th and June 12th, she attended two residences not belonging to her and removed various items from the properties without permission. Police were contacted and located the woman on June 12th, 2019, at which time she was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and held for a bail hearing.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 35-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on June 12th, 2019 and charged with domestic assault. It is alleged during the early morning hours on June 12th, he assaulted his girlfriend and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
