Cornwall Woman Charged For Beating 17 Year Old Girl With Baseball Bat #CCPS #CPS 070919

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old Martintown man was arrested on July 8th, 2019 and charged with breach of probation x 3 for contacting his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend and being near him, as well as failing to keep the peace.  It is alleged the man attended his ex-girlfriend’s residence, where her current boyfriend was, and subsequently breached his conditions. Police were contacted and took the man into custody. He was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on August 8th, 2019. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

HARASSING COMMUNICATIONS, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 45-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on July 8th, 2019 and charged with harassing communications, as well as breach of undertaking for contacting her ex-boyfriend. It is alleged throughout June and July, the woman had continuously made phone calls and texted her ex-boyfriend, despite her conditions. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On July 8th, 2019, the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, AGGRAVATED ASSAULT, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, BREACH OF YOUTH PROBATION

Cornwall, ON – A 19-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on July 8th, 2019 and charged with assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, as well as breach of youth probation for failing to remain in her residence, and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged the woman assaulted a 17-year-old youth known to her using a bat, causing the youth to seek medical attention for her injuries. Police were contacted and located the woman shortly thereafter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as the conditions stem from when she was a youth and is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

WARRANT, THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Megan Powless, 24, of Cornwall was arrested on July 8th, 2019 on the strength of a warrant for failing to attend court. She was also charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged in March, the woman attended a Second Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise as she left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On July 8th, 2019, the woman was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant, charged accordingly, and held for a bail hearing.
