Dube Charged DUI – Markell Animal Cruelty Charge & $110K Weed Bust in Cornwall Ontario 072919 #CPS

ASSAULT POLICE, BREACH

            Cornwall, ON – A 38-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on July 26th, 2019 and charged with breach of probation for communicating with his ex-girlfriend, being within 50 meters of her and for failing to keep the peace. He was also charged with assault police. It is alleged on July 26th, 2019 the man attended his ex-girlfriend`s residence despite his conditions and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody and he spat on an officer. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as would identify the victim in the matter.

BREAK AND ENTER, ESCAPE LAWFUL CUSTODY,RESIST ARREST, BREACH

            Cornwall, ON – Marc Jodoin, 44 of Cornwall was arrested on July 26th, 2019 and charged with break and enter, escape lawful custody, resist arrest and breach of probation and undertaking for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on July 25th, 2019 the man forced his way into a residence on Kirkman Court and removed some property. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On July 26th, 2019 the man was located by police, taken into custody for the break and enter at which point he broke free from police. A struggle ensued as the man was taken into custody a second time. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. 

ASSAULT, UNLAWFULLY IN A DWELLING, BREACH OF PROBATION

            Cornwall, ON – A 45-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 27th, 2019 and charged with assault X2, unlawfully in a dwelling and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on July 26th, 2019 the man assaulted his ex-girlfriend and one of her friend`s. It is also alleged on July 27th, 2019 the man entered her residence without permission. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victims in the matter.

FRAUD UNDER$5000, UNLAWFUL USE OF A CREDIT CARD, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Brett Ellis, 20 of Cornwall was arrested on July 28th, 2019 and charged with the following:

• Fraud under $5000
• Unlawful use of credit card
• Breach of probation for being in the company of a certain person, and failing to keep the peace.

It is alleged on May 12th, 2019, the man was in possession of a bankcard that did not belong to him. The man is alleged to have used the card at a Marlborough Street business during the early morning hours of May 12th, 2019, while in the company of a man he is to have no contact with. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On July 28th, 2019, he attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 12th, 2019.

CRUELTY TO ANIMALS

            Cornwall, ON – David Markell, 42 of Cornwall was arrested on July 28th, 2019 and charged with cruelty to animals. It`s alleged in early July, 2019 police were notified that a severely emaciated dog was brought to a veterinary office. As a result, an investigation ensued. On July 28th, 2019, Markell attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 12th, 2019.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

            Cornwall, ON – Pierre Dube, 54 of Cornwall was arrested on July 28th, 2019 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged on July 28th, 2019 the man was operating a motor vehicle in an erratic manner while in a parking lot of 200 block of Marlborough Street. Police were contacted and attended the area to investigate. The man was located and found to be under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on August 8th, 2019.

DRUG WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – On July 26th, 2019 members of the Cornwall Street Crime Unit executed a Cannabis Act search warrant at a Marlborough Street address. As a result of the search warrant over 2000 grams of illegal cannabis products were located. They include cannabis shatter, cannabis edibles, and THC resin. Police also located Canadian currency, a machete and bear spray.

Jennifer Moore, 24, Darren MacNeil, 47 and Cameron Paul, 27 all from Cornwall were arrested and charged as follows:

Unlawfully possess cannabis for selling it X7Unlawfully possess cannabis that he/she knew was illicit X7Possession of PsilocybinProceeds of crime-over $5000Possession of a Weapon

Cameron Paul was also charged with breach of recognizance for being in possession of a weapon (machete).

Moore and MacNeil were released to appear in court on August 27th, 2019 while Paul was held for a bail hearing.

The combined estimated street value of the illegal cannabis and currency seized is over $115,000.00.

There were 139 calls for service in the City of Cornwall in over the weekend (8am Friday to 8am Monday morning).
